Kris has been answering more burning questions about the film. Here are the highlights:
Just in general is it darker in tone than 2013/rise? And how would u rank it compared to them?
In my PERSONAL OPINION. I'd say this is the darkest entry yet due to certain subject matters/themes, things characters say and do, and the violence. (However, without spoiling, I'd say it's also the FUNNIEST entry since ED2. Dialogue, body language, line-delivery, situations, etc. This film had quite a bit of humor)
Tell us about the actors. What did you think of the cast as a whole, and who had the most stand-out performance?
Without breaking NDA or spoiling, I REALLY enjoyed the cast. Different actors/characters stuck out for different reasons (good reasons) but I can't say too much at this moment sadly.
In terms of easter eggs, were they as heavy as they were in Rise, or was it a lot more spaced out/nestled in (if that makes any sort of sense)?
Personally I felt the way Easter eggs we're done in Rise were fine, but thats also me and my opinion. I've seen chatter here and there of fans wishing Easter Eggs weren't "so obvious" and I feel like this particular entry addresses some concerns fans have had. Hopefully I'm not breaking NDA by mentioning this but as far as I know certain characters people want to see aren't in the film. At least not the rough cut I saw. HOWEVER. I think OG fans AND newer fans (fans of the first two films and fans of the latest two films) will find plenty of cool stuff, subtle and not subtle to be excited about in terms of the one actor teasing that this film ties the mythology together.
Without giving away the plot, does it lean more on the setup of previous movies in the franchise, or does it forge its own path? I'm worried about getting another "we found a book in a cabin in the woods" plot.
I dont think I'm technically breaking NDA by saying this since its been discussed elsewhere publicly already, its a mix of both. Like its been said, this ties things together, while also being standalone. Someone could easily see this movie without seeing ANY of the previous films, and still understand it/being caught up to speed. That being said, fans like us whill enjoy it even MORE due to knowing history/lore. Also, the book is mentioned but TECHNICALLY isn't seen or used. The way the Deadites are unleashed is smart, and as far as I can tell off the top of my head, technically hasn't been done before, at least not in a movie. They know longtime fans dont want the exact same thing over and over and over again, so despite having familiar ties, the film still is fresh.
