Understood but we don't get a cheerful 'no problems otherwise' bunch of happy go lucky characters like the original The Evil Dead storyline with any of the above mentioned films. The new films have all started with issues driven characters.
Sorry for stating the obvious but we seem to have a pattern with the post Army Of Darkness films.
The Evil Dead remake had a heroine who was already compromised because she was also fighting a drug addiction.
Evil Dead Rise had a heroine who was already compromised because she was also living in a nasty building.
Our new Evil Dead Burn heroine is already compromised because she's also getting over the recent death of her partner so forced to live with her in laws.
I'm now wondering what our heroine/hero will also be compromised with for Evil Dead Wrath.
I'd say Beth's problem is she's pregnant and trying to save her sister's kids (per her sister's request). Depends on if you consider a pregnant woman "compromised" but it has stakes.

I think it's funny how all these trailers are specifically using clips of people saying "Book of The Dead", almost like they're embarrassed to let the audience know they have to call it Naturom Demonto again.
This July, Doohan’s sure-to-be blood-spattered face will be seen in Evil Dead Burn — the sixth installment of the series, this time directed by Sébastien Vaniček (Infested). The film also stars Souheila Yacoub and Tandi Wright, and, from what the trailers indicate, it’s going to be a carnage-filled ride.
For Doohan, landing the role of Joseph in Evil Dead Burn was a dream come true, but it came with a slight dose of intimidation. Stepping onto an Evil Dead set required an immediate deep dive into 45 years of Deadite lore.
“I had seen Evil Dead, the Fede Álvarez one,” Doohan explains, referencing the 2013 film directed by the Uruguayan filmmaker. “And I had seen Evil Dead 2. My character Joseph, he’s researching the lore in the story, and so through that audition process, I went and watched it and watched all the movies all over again and checked out the show as well. I was running out of time — but I was all over the Wiki and learning everything I could about the Kandarian Dagger and everything I could get my hands on.”
The preparation paid off, but nothing could quite brace him for the twisted mayhem ahead. The producers of the franchise are known to take a devilish pride in ensuring their cast members earn their stripes through gallons of stage blood. One producer even felt the need to bluntly tell the cast about the torture they were about to endure.
“I remember when I first got to New Zealand, Rob Tapert, who’s produced them all, sat me down and — I think he did it with every cast member — and basically gave us a warning of how grueling these Evil Dead shoots are,” Doohan recalls with a grin. “He was like, ‘There will come a moment when you will have a breakdown,’ and I was like, I’m excited. I think it’s going to be good. But yeah, it was taxing, for sure, just physically and emotionally, because the way that this script unfolds is just, once shit hits the fan, it is relentless.”
In Evil Dead Burn, Doohan plays Joseph, a character with familial connective tissue to major players in the franchise’s mythology. Hardcore fans will surely home in on a certain family name that’s been around since the original.
“Joseph is working on a book about his grandfather’s research,” Doohan reveals. “His grandfather knew Professor Knowby. I loved how this script not only ties back a little bit to Evil Dead Rise — but this movie connects the lore through the whole franchise, which I found really exciting.”
The film, which centers on a family reunion (literally) from hell, is already being teased as the most vicious and savage entry in the series yet. For Doohan, the opportunity to engage with old-school, practical filmmaking was an exhilarating rite of passage.
“Just as a fan of horror, it’s exciting, and for it to be an Evil Dead movie. I was literally jumping up and down when I got the call,” he says. “It is gnarly. It is super gruesome. And the makeup and special effects team on this movie were just unbelievable. The Deadite makeup they did was insane. I’m really hoping that it comes across as gruesome as it was on the page and how it felt when we were filming.”
This intense baptism by blood binds Doohan to an elite Hollywood subculture. Past Evil Dead alumni have long described the franchise as a tight-knit fraternity, where the hazing ritual involves being blasted by blood cannons. It is a sentiment Doohan wholeheartedly confirms.
“I think that there probably is a real bonding thing for anyone that’s been in these, they know just how taxing all of that is. And it’s so fun. It’s cool to be a part of something where everyone’s so excited. There is that camaraderie that comes with it.”
His involvement in the franchise also recently scored him a visit to the set of the upcoming seventh installment, which will release in spring 2028. “I had a chance to actually visit the set of Evil Dead Wrath while they were shooting,” he shares. “It was cool just to go on set and just to be welcomed in, and they were like, ‘Oh, let me show you this,’ and everyone’s so excited, and they’re asking questions about Evil Dead Burn, and I was geeking out over what they were doing.”
I still really hope that they'll keep these movies more self-sustained than not, but we'll see.
I REALLY hope they're not trying to somehow link Wrath to the OG movie since it takes place in the 70s. I really don't need to see how Knowby got to the cabin (again).
I like the clip, but it doesn't really feel like Evil Dead to me, I dunno... It's the same thing with the deadites seeming too human and in control of themselves, and I think I finally figured out what exactly is my issue there: While their lines are very deadite-like, the performances aren't matching that energy.
So, knowing what we know now with the limited information we have, I've put together this rough timeline of what I'm calling the "Naturom Demonto Timeline" (name subject to change, and I'm open to suggestions).
* In 1923, a group of Catholic priests find one of the three volumes of Naturom Demonto. Though Father Marcus Littleton believes that the book can be used for good, he soon discovers his mistake as he unleashes a hoard of the possessed, which he eventually manages to defeat (though it claims the lives of his associates). Littleton documents the ordeal through audio recordings, and the book is buried in an underground vault in Los Angeles sometime shortly thereafter.

* Raymond Knowby and a friend (name to be inserted here) are archeologists/professors specializing in the occult, mainly material pertaining to Naturom Demonto, a three-volume set of books each bearing the alias of "Book of The Dead."
* In 1981, Raymond Knowby eventually finds one of the three volumes of Naturom Demonto in the ruins of Ca'n Dar, and brings it back to the United States, where he studies it in his secluded (rented) cabin in the woods in the hills of Tennessee. This translation accidently awakens a Kandarian Demon which possesses Raymond's wife. Knowby himself vanishes after managing to kill his possessed wife, leaving behind his notes and recordings.
* A week later, five collage students rent the same cabin, finding Knowby's belongings and re-awaken the demon. Over the course of the night, Ash Williams fights the possessed, though he himself is the final victim claimed by the demon as the morning sun rises, killing him and rendering all five dead by dawn.
* At an unknown point, Knowby's associate manages to recover Raymond's notes and recordings, documenting their contents in a scrapbook of material related to the Book(s) of The Dead.
* At another unknown point, a young girl becomes possessed through means unknown and kills her mother. The girl's father, Harold, enlists the help of an old woman and two hillbillies to capture his daughter, bringing her to a cabin where she is killed and "purified" by fire. Believing the cabin to be abandoned, the group leaves one of the Naturom Demonto volumes in the cellar, wrapping it in plastic and barbed wire.
* In 2013, history repeats itself as a group of five friends venture to a secluded cabin in the Tennessee hills for an intervention/weekend detox for one member of the group: Mia Allen. One by one the group is claimed by the Taker of Souls, and Mia battles "The Abomination" as the skies rain blood. Defeating the Abomination (but at the loss of her brother, her friends, and her own hand), Mia escapes, leaving behind the book as the cabin burns behind her.
* A newspaper documents the burning cabin and the bodies found within, with the article being archived by Knowby's associate.
* Knowby's associate dies sometime between 2013 and 2023.
* In 2023, a California earthquake reveals the long-lost vault, and Naturom Demonto (along with Littleton's recordings) are recovered by the inhabitants of the building that has been built on top of the vault in the years since. Beth Bixler and her niece Kassie survive the night and escape, with the demon making one last attack on an unsuspecting woman named Jessica.
* Jessica fully succumbs to her possession a few hours later upon arriving to her boyfriend's father's lakeside cabin, killing her boyfriend and cousin.

* The grandson of Professor Knowby's associate, Joseph, finds his grandfather's extensive scrapbook containing info about the Book of The Dead, and uses it to begin writing a book about it.
While I was putting this together, I couldn't help but think about Fede's quote about his film being a "dark fate" created by the book... a justification for 2013 so closely mirroring the events of 1981: Because Ash really died at the end of ED1 in this timeline, the "forces of good"/God/whatever you want to call it is trying to find a new champion by throwing people into similar events... with the hopes that one of them will live up to the expectations of Ash's deeds in the "true timeline"/Raimi canon... "testing the mettle of man" you might say...
