Evil Dead Burn | Official Thread

Add this to the list of weird one-off officially licensed live event things: Warner Bros Movie World (Gold Coast, Australia) has their own equivalent of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights event called Fright Nights. While the event does have mazes/haunted houses like HHN, Evil Dead Burn is getting represented in the "Horror Encounters" photo-op exhibit with a small recreation of the Price house kitchen, complete with a very energetic Deadite Thya and an open dishwasher for you to lay down on.

Seems like the StudioCanal UK Evil Dead Burn Collector's Edition set is rolling out (and I did cancel my US SteelBook order in favor of getting this set, so hopefully I'll be getting my copy soon). I like how the official EDB candle specifically says "NOT FOR CONSUMPTION", which wouldn't be a problem for any other movie. Not sure if that candle is genius, or poorly thought-out.

Agreed. Even though I kinda hated that movie, I'm glad that its popularity can help the franchise to live on.

I've developed an appreciation for it over the few times I've watched at home, but it's easily my least favorite of the franchise. I have high hopes that Wrath and future projects will be better (maybe in part if they take the feedback into consideration). I'm always happy to see this franchise alive and well after that 20-year period of it being relatively dead.

Hm, but now I see that Burn isn't on Czech HBO Max yet. Oh, the irony…
I asked my friend from FlixPatrol and he said that Warner Bros has a special distribution deal with Sony in Czechia which puts their movies on HBO Max at least 6 months after their theatrical run.

So it's basically like waiting half a year for a DVD release in 2006. That brings back memories.

It's super interesting to me where and when the movie's finding viewers. People weren't willing to shell out for it in theaters, but it makes a good Max streaming experience. I know - fittingly enough - it did pretty decent business at my local drive-in this summer.

I don't think they'll take this as a signal to shuffle Wrath off to streaming (I actually highly doubt that'd happen), but it's always interesting when this happens

Another one for the "Evil Dead International Censorship" counter: a Reddit user in Mongolia says about 2 to 3 minutes are cut from the version of Evil Dead Burn streaming on Mongolian Netflix, specifically the "scenes like head on a fishing rod and the bisection in the opening scene." It just stuck out to me because we really haven't heard a whole lot about the censorship of Burn (which is good, I guess).

It's fascinating we're still getting cuts like this decades later.
