Evil Dead 2: The Official Board Game

Update #24: Layout Update - Art Placement!
Hello!

As mentioned in our earlier update, we are receiving regular updates from our layout designer every Friday. This week’s update arrived a little later, so this update is a little delayed as well, but we’ve got some good progress to share!

Layout Status
Below is a video showcasing the current state of the Evil Dead 2 5.5e book's layout as of today.

We’re happy to report that most of the art placement has now been completed! We’re currently reviewing the completed layout, and once that review is finished and any necessary adjustments have been made, we’ll move on to applying the polishing touches throughout the book.

It’s really starting to come together, and we’re very pleased with how it’s looking! Seeing the book take shape like this makes it much easier to see the finished product on the horizon. We'll continue sharing these progress reports with you each week so you can follow along as the book gets closer and closer to completion.

Thank you again for your patience, understanding, and continued support!
Good to see the Space Goat game/comic art getting used again!

Update #25: Layout Update - Art Treatment!
Hello!

As mentioned in our earlier update, we are receiving regular updates from our layout designer every Friday. Here is this week's update!

Layout Status

Below is a video showcasing the current state of the Evil Dead 2 5.5e book's layout as of today.

We’re happy to report that most of the art treatment has now been completed! We’re currently giving it one final massive review, and once these last adjustments have been made, there should only be a few last tweaks to get a finished presentation.

It feels great to see this book laid out as much as it is! We're in the home stretch, now, and expect that next week's update will be one of our last.

Once again, thank-you for your patience, understanding, and continued support!

Update #26: Layout Update - Penultimate Polish Pass, Approvals, & Peripherals
Hello!

As mentioned in our earlier update, we are receiving regular updates from our layout designer every Friday. This week’s update arrived a little later, so this update is a little delayed as well, but we have some more progress to share!

Layout Status

Below is a video showcasing the current state of the Evil Dead 2 5.5e book's layout as of today.
We've now completed our penultimate polishing pass, bringing the book very close to its final form! We're currently making the last few tweaks while awaiting the licensor's approval of the layout. We're hopeful that the approval process will go smoothly and require minimal additional revisions, allowing us to get this project onto shelves as soon as possible!

In the meantime, we're excited to share some previews of the current layouts for the GM Screen, Book Cover, Character Sheet, and Shemp Sheet. Please note that all previews are subject to change pending licensor approval.

We've been working very hard this last few weeks. Approvals are, as always, well out of our hands as far as timing, but I'm taking advantage of the lag by indulging my pickiness with regards to some of the styling and fine finish. It's off to print soon as it gets the rubber stamp, but untill that point I'm a keep on tweakin'!

I'd say it's looking pretty good in the latest video! I'm also glad the name (at least for now) has been officially changed to Evil Dead 2: The Roleplaying Game, which sounds a hell of a lot better than Evil Dead 2 5e Compatible Supplement.

Okay, here's a bit of market research, because even at this point there's some debate about what the name of this book should 100% finally and officially BE.

I think we all can agree that "Evil Dead 2: The Roleplaying Game" is a far BETTER title on the whole, but a concern is that it might be somewhat.... misleading? If you're looking at that title, are you expecting it to contain 100% of the rules needed to play that game, and/or would you be distressed to see that it does, in fact, require additional rules to play? The book makes no secret of this; this is noted on the back cover and pretty prominently in the opening chapter. I'm just concerned this might be... I don't know, upsetting perhaps to a certain category of reader. "5.5 E Compatible Supplement" is a much less ambiguous title showing what the book fully is.

I think if you did something like:
EVIL DEAD 2: THE ROLEPLAYING GAME
5.5 E Compatible Supplement

That it would cover both bases... but then that makes it sound like it's a supplement to a much larger ED2 RPG. I'm not an RPG guy, so I don't know of any other examples like this to compare it to. I would say that "Evil Dead 2: The Roleplaying Game" is much better for search engine optimization (though you shouldn't be too concerned about that since the Kickstarter page is the first result when one looks up "evil dead rpg").

FYI everyone, I just merged the old Evil Dead 2 Board Game thread with the current Kickstarter thread.

Update #27: Tuesday Bonus Update!
Hey Deadites,
We’ve reached the next step! All products are complete in both content and layout and have been submitted for approval. In this bonus update ahead of Friday, we’re happy to share that the licensor has completed its review and expects to provide final notes within the next week.

They understand the timeline and are working diligently to help us wrap up the project and begin delivery. In the meantime, we may finalize some addresses and cards to confirm the final quantities.

Our goal is to have the products in print by Halloween. We’ll share our usual Friday update, bony digits crossed that the book is approved!

Until then, keep the jaw attached, we're finally almost there.

That set is painted very nicely. Also that's my face in the middle of the Applehead mini!
I never noticed that! (But then again I've only taken my copy of the game out of the box once). The test renderings of the mini when SG was still working on it didn't have any faces, so I guess the Lynvannder modeling team had the idea to add in the game's new developers to their new version of it.

No, my face, along with three other dudes' were added during the original Space Goat campaign.

Wow! Are you also in the Revenge of Evil Ed comic?
Nope! I wasn't one of the guys who bought in. I never knew who they were. The guys on the Applehead were just a group of overhyped, overcaffeinated backers. Me, Jeremy, Peter (who made the Applehead website) and... someone else. Maybe the guy that made the mead, I'm not sure.

As atrocious as that ended up being, it was a VERY fun campaign while it ran.

I went looking to see if getting your face on the demon was some kind of super-backer reward, but I guess that explains why I couldn't find anything of the sort.
