Preview for the second half (MAJORLY SPOILER PHOTOS INSIDE AND DESCRIPTIONS.)
The second half of Ash vs. Evil Dead Season 3 is quite possibly the most “personal” and emotionally charged in the history of the franchise. Ash most confront challenges that change the trajectory of the entire story. Ash has always brazenly told those that they are likely to “die” if they get close or join him on his journey, but rarely has he seemed to dwell or confront such loss. The second half of Season 3 begins to break down this barrier, allowing the “evil” to perhaps finally expose the inner weaknesses masked by a lifetime of self-imposed ignorance.

Close relationships will be turned on their head and Ash will not only take on the undead but will have to confront himself in a way that takes the series to a deeper level.

The final half of the season is that emotionally powerful, gory and shocking series of episodes that bring this iconic franchise to a fulfilling conclusion or perhaps an exciting new chapter in the Evil Dead universe.

Oh god, that one image in that article, i don't know if i'm gonna be ready for that scene. Looks like we might be in for a very emotional second half if those images are anything to go by and maybe, just maybe we get to see a broken ash Williams again.

I don't think I'm emotionally ready for this, especially after the end of tonight's episode :(

Since Brandy likely dies in episode 7, I'm guessing Ash goes through the rift to grab her spirit and Kelly's. Kelly temp-dies and becomes Kaya's host in episode 6, Brandy dies in 7, Ash goes back through the rift in 8 and 9, 10 is the final battle with evil.

Well, if the photos from the last episode on the far far away site are accurate we know all of the main characters - including Brandy - are still alive and still working together when the big demon shows up and the tanks start rolling in, so I'm calling bullshit on that. Hopefully they will surprise us and prove me wrong, but based on their track record, I'm not buying it. Also, I'm gonna be extremely pissed and disappointed if after wasting three full seasons they finally start making decisions that actually matter, take the characters in an interesting direction and change the status quo in what could very well be the last friggin' episode of the show.

@DyD

Not everyone else looks in detail at this photos and footage like we do, so let's try and keep this stuff in the spoiler tag section please. Just a heads up going forward.

This season has been pretty emotional so far and has had some pretty serious/emotional moments in this first half (even if it didn't land for you it's still there and shouldn't be discredited), and given how it get's much darker/serious in the later half for these past two seasons, i'm inclined to believe what's been said in the article.

If they go out with a bang dyd, let it go out with bang, at least we can say the whole final season wasn't wasted on a damsel in distress plot that craig had lined up to do for the original s3 plot.

All the detailed information is in spoiler tags. The stuff outside is just spec and conjecture, left purposefully vague. I made sure of that. But ok, from now on, I'll spoiler tag the whole post when discussing anything related to possible future developments.

EDIT: There, I edited the post to put all of it inside the spoiler tags.

Like I said above, I'll believe when I see it. Like I also said above, I actually want them to surprise us and prove me wrong.

I will let it go out with a bang. It's still better than going out with a whimper, even it only adds to the disappointment and the feeling of wasted investment.

...Is that they succeed in rescuing everyone, Ash goes down swinging against the monster, thinks he's dead, tumbles through a time porthole and ends up in the future.

I mean for sure i'll be disappointed/sad that it's ended and we didn't get to see what the new direction ended up being but i'll be happy with the fact that they actually put forth the effort to flesh out the characters and took it in a new direction towards the end of it and actually put forth the effort to try and accomplish something in a season then how aimless the first two seasons felt. In my opinion this is probably going to be their best season if what is said about the last half is true.

You know what bugs me the most if that's what they're going to do? They already did it. From the sound of it, It could end up being just a repeat of last season when Pablo died, Ash went to the past and got him back to life. If that's the way they're going with it, hopefully the execution will make it seem different, but it will still reinforce my impression of nothing in the show actually having any real lasting consequence.

Concerning the actual ending of leaving Ash stuck alone in a completely unknown and even worse situation than before, I said it before that I actually love that and consider that the perfect ending for anything Evil Dead. I just think that every season should've ended on a note similar to that. They almost did something similar at the end of season one with the giant sinkholes opening up, but then decided to completely ignore it in the next season.

@DyD I haven’t been around here long but perhaps the show just isn’t your cup of tea? It just seems to be in most posts that it’s a lot of work and stress on you to watch the show. Just a brief observation

Well, thank you for that keen observation. No, the show isn't my cup of tea. Yes, I disagree with nearly every single decision they made so far and it frustrates me at every turn. Yes, I'm already watching it more out of a sense of duty and vain hope to find something that I like than expectation to get enjoyment out of it. But I keep watching it and commenting on it because when it's all said and done, it's still Evil Dead and an official continuation of the movies, and Evil Dead as a whole is very much my cup of tea. It has been a huge part of my life for most of my life (I'm not sure exactly how long now, but I'd say about 20 years and counting). It's actually one of the reasons I decided to go to film school. You can believe me when I say I care about Evil Dead just as much as any of you who are able to enjoy the show for what it is. I also very much love this place and discussing the show with the people here, even when they disagree with me. That's the reason I've been an on and off member of these forums for the past 17 years or so. So I'll shut up now and once again work on keeping my negative criticism of the show in check going forward, since it's clearly rubbing some of you the wrong way and maybe taking away of your enjoyment of this place, something that I honestly never meant to do. I've made this promise before and broke it. I'm sorry for that and for any offense and discomfort I may have caused you. It's just that sometimes I can't hold it back and might go overboard on the vitriol against the show.

I have no discomfort over it, it just seems a shame you can’t find really anything at all to enjoy from it. We must be of similar age because I have been a fan roughly that time too, and I’m personally very happy to have any Ash at all since it seemed for so long he was lost to us and we were forced to have him through the comics only. As much as I love the show, it has its flaws for sure and I can agree with that but I think the good far outweighs the bad.

As a whole, what is so hateable about it? I’ve read a few of your comments but give me the condensed version, I’m genuinely curious

Since first watching the Evil Dead trilogy, I've been reading the Army of Darkness comics pretty much since their inception. When the show started, the tone of Ash in it pretty much matched up with where the character left off in AoD and evolved to in comics/video game media in the quiet years since. He became a sex obsessed dimwitted blowhard in those intervening years and when the show appeared I felt ready to accept this version of Ash from pretty much the get go. I see that being most people's issue with the show on these boards; that and regularly trying to apply continuity to a series that, across three movies, comics, video games, etc NEVER had any consistent continuity.

At all.

And, without going into spoilers (because I hate spoilers) does it really set the show off in the way Bruce was bragging about?

Because he said that everything goes into overdrive from Episode 5, but as fun as Episode 5 was, I didn't feel anything ramping up anymore than usual, so I'm hoping he meant onward from Episode 5.

Again, I'm not looking for specifics, I just want to know if this is the game-changer they've been promoting.
