Bart Pierce worked with Tom Sullivan on the original Evil Dead. What I didn't know was that he has two sons, Brett and Drew. I've just watched a great new film of theirs called Dead Heads. Bruce Campbell writes on the back of the DVD case "In a world of putrid zombie movies, Dead Heads is a breath of fresh air"... and, for any referance freaks out there, the undead pals on the run (and an old guy they also befriend) go to the cinema to watch The Evil Dead with footage and sounds from it intertwined into the Dead Heads storyline. They even include their Dad's meltdown sequence work. OK, Donnie Darko did it first but they've put there own twist on it. It has gore, laughs and even a love story, the last act reminded me of Grosse Point Blank's school reunion/ recapturing lost love. It's a cut above the norm these days and possibly the first genuine challenger to Sean of the Dead. Ignore the music in the trailer as a judgment guide. The score to this film sounds like Back to the Future's Allan Silvestri.

The back of the DVD writeup:

'Two zombie slackers, Mike and Brent, find themselves suprisingly reborn from the dead after a disastrous zombie outbreak. After discovering an engagement ring in his pocket, Mike enlists his new zombie pal, Brent, to embark on a quest in search of his lost love. What ensues is a cross-country road trip as these two reformed flesh eating pals hitch-hike across the country as they are pursued by a team of zombie killing bounty hunters.
Directed by the Pierce Brothers, sons of The Evil Dead special effects photographer Bart Pierce, Dead Heads wears its influences gloriously on its blood splattered sleeve' etc etc ...

WATCH THIS! .... keep it in the family  ;)
