Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 General Discussion Thread

@MaidOfKandar
I have theory about the dress brandy is wearing, in the trailer we see ash has his chainsaw going through ruby, if you look at area surrounding them it looks like they are at some type of dance or prom. I'm gonna say that's probably why she's in that dress.

That guy in the doorway is not who you think.
Uhhh huh, judging by how decomposed the guy is, i'm gonna assume it's a old character returning from the grave.

Is it brock ?

Yep!

I just finished binging the first five episodes. I don't want to spoil anything for you guys but wanted to give my impressions so far:

The pacing is really fast this season.

Lots of people die.

Episodes 1-3 are kind of eh.

Episode 4, it really starts to pick up.

Episode 5 is crazy.

I'm gonna say you got the press package.

Judging from your reactions im gonna take a guess and say 1-3 are the build up episodes, 4 is the key going into the car and starting it. 5 is the car finally going and speeding off down the highway.

You know, bruce mentioned in a interview s3 really picks up in the middle.

But anyways, like how crazy does it get story wise from 1 to 5

I wonder if the lull is going to make things tough for them ratings-wise

I wouldn't have guessed it's Brock! Is Dalton Brock the whole time or does Brock's spirit possess him or what?

I'm gonna say that's brock body and him full on due to it being so decompossed, plus in the ign blood cannon video they showed a decapitated head that looked like brock's.

Makes sense - going with Joe's hypothesis!

The funny thing is we knew Brock was going to be a part of this season early on, but I never put two and two together even with them showing his head in the video. I just thought it was an old prop they were showing off, and assumed the figure in the doorway was an alternate version of Ash... but Bruce and Lee Majors do look a lot alike. I'm guessing (hoping) we will see Brock in the flesh of a rotting variety instead of any of the force ghost stuff we saw at the end of season 2.

How do you like what you saw of the third season compared to seasons 1 and 2?

How big is the budget cut look this season?

Hows the storytelling/mythology this season, any better then the previous seasons?

@Joe

I'm guessing Ash forbids her to go for her own safety but she sneaks out anyway.

Is there a recogniseable shift in tone or characterization?

It's not as good as season 1 & 2. It's way more slapstick and gorier.

Not too bad of a cut although there's no fancy background credits.

It moves very quickly and isn't bogged down too much by backstory.

From the looks of it and the things Kain is saying they don't seem to have fixed anything or changed their approach in the slightest. All of my issues with seasons 1 and 2 are apparently still there. And if this season is worse than seasons 1 and 2... Yikes.

Also:

Is the hand coming out of the ground at the beginning of the trailer Brock's hand? Makes absolutely zero sense for Brock to be back in the actual flesh. Didn't his head got crushed into a pulp? How is it intact now? Hopefully I'm missing something and this will be addressed in some way in the show, but if it doesn't, it means the lack of attention and caring about detail and continuity that bugged me so much during the first two seasons are still a part of the show.

Ruby brings Brock back to distract Ash.

Ash is brasher. They also made him dumber. I'm still scratching my head over some of the decisions he makes in season 3.
Since I haven't even finished season two, I think I'm gonna give season 3 a pass altogether. All of you here know my opinions on this show from all of my posts since the past two an a half years. No need to force my self into watching it just so that I could sound like a broken record here.

It's a shame, though…
