Evil Dead Burn | Official Thread

Some more of the "Price family heirloom" images dropped and gives us a look at two VERY spoilery props. Look at your own risk...
So now not only is there more than one book, there's now more than one Kandarian Dagger out there, too.
I guess in this new continuity, Grandpa Price goes to the Knowby cabin and recovers the Dagger that was found in Castle Kandar.

I guess they must have worked out a deal with StudioCanal to not only use the Necronomicon name, but the ED2 Dagger design as well.

Is that a spelling error?
LOL I didn't notice that!
And I assume this is all potentially part of the unified licensing whatever it was.
I mean, the original announcement just says "licensing rights in all categories", which I interpret to mean merchandise and attractions or that type of stuff, not for actual theatrical movies. I strongly now suspect that deal was Renaissance trying to butter up StudioCanal so they can be like "Hey, do you mind if we use this thing from ED2? I mean, you are getting the merch profits from this project..." Because I'm sure they're really starting to feel the limitations of just working with the lore of the first movie (which is why Sony is now onboard for Burn and Wrath).

Nope. It definitely reads CONTENT NOT VIEWABLE IN YOUR REGION. Is this just happening to me or for all UK forum members?. We haven't received any complaints so far?.

Some Instagram "influencer" was given the actual Evil Dead Rise book prop (well, hopefully it was a stunt book) for a video and SHE DOESN'T EVEN USE IT FOR ANYTHING BESIDES SHOWING IT FOR A SECOND!

I thought my brain couldn't get any more melted in this heatwave but after watching this, I stand corrected.

Also you're right, it's clearly the book from Rise, so does that mean that it will also appear in Burn, or that they just gave her a prop from a 3 years old movie to promote the current one and didn't care if anybody notices?

I don't believe I lived long enough to see the (even more) Hollywoodization of the franchise.

I feel like the movie's suffering from not having an instantly iconic, identifiable Deadite? Ellie was in Rise, Mia was in the remake, but I don't feel like anyone's catching on yet in the public's imagination from this movie.

I think they want it to be the dad. They should be marketing the dog or the grandma, though.

I have heard that Luciane Buchanan is phenomenal as deadite Thya, and that the grandma might be the funniest of the bunch. Apparently the dog stuff is pretty unpleasant, so that's probably why they are hiding so much.

The little bits I've seen of her look interesting. I know the Grandma's brief clips in the trailer look fun: I hope she'll stand out enough to avoid being seen as a clone of other old lady deadites we've already had.

I'm not shocked this director decided to go with an animal death/cruelty angle after his debut. Too bad, Deadite dog is a new twist for the franchise.

I'm almost wondering if they're going "all out" on marketing for this one since there's so many fingers in the metaphorical pie for this one... Ghost House, New Line/Warner, Sony, and now StudioCanal... maybe they're all expecting Rise-level numbers for Burn.

NICK YOU OWE ME FOR MAKING ME SEE THIS WITH MY OWN EYES
Keeping myself entertained, and haven't commented a lot since I have avoided looking at the more recent clips... but did see that yesterday Warner Bros. was asking on social(s) for ideas regarding a popcorn bucket for Burn with most expecting a less suggestive candle.

Jeez. Universal has put out word that they are not even doing social media influencer screenings for The Odyssey.

Well that's probably because anyone who proudly states that they are a social media influencer does not possess the mental capacity to understand it or have the ability to sit through a damn-near 3 hour film without looking at their phone (or just straight up leaving).

I will cackle if that was what they went for that. They're searching for a big iconic image that will carry the film like the cheese grater did Rise - there are a number of options here.

Total number of tickets sold so far at my local theater for the entire opening weekend so far, BTW, including mine: 13. Moana, which is sharing its opening weekend, is doubling their total so far. Between Toy Story holdover (if it has really good legs), Minions holdover, Obsession/Backrooms holdover and Moana's opening, it might get completely creamed, especially if the reviews are bad.

That's not an entirely unreasonable assumption when you recall Rise peaked at #2 for it's first two weeks thanks to The Super Mario Bros Movie.
BUT... Moana is a Disney live action remake, and those have been more "miss" than "hit and miss", so with any kind of luck that will give Burn an advantage...

That's why I'm surprised the ticket sales are doing so well, at least in my little hamlet! We will see!

I've also seen plenty of people predicting it'll break $100 mil because horror's so hot now, but IDK if the buzz is really hitting for it.
