Nothing beats cold cuts at Comic-Con cut up by a Campbell, and I'm glad to see Conan is still on tv.

AvED's Facebook popularity will never not amuse me.

Maybe I interprete a little too much form the tiny clips and interview bits, but as I understand Ted's Chet character is the sort of guy Ash would be without the cabin expierience. Does it mean he is an "responsible adult" with a job and family or something else? From the trailer clips (died hair, silly greeting rituals etc.) I get the impression, that he is just the typical loser drinking buddy stereotype. If that is the case: Why the hell? Storywise it would be interesting to see the difference between tormented trailer park dwelling Ash and his former but now successful high school / college buddies. But I see no point in siding Ash with another non-badass white trash douchebag (a characterization I also never had in mind for Ash judged by the movies). Maybe Chet IS in fact a more mature guy than Ash but a little bit bored by his urban existence. A guy in his mid life crisis. In that case meeting up with his demon killing and girls chasing childhood friend could give him a reason to look at his life in different way. That COULD be storywise more interesting altough this trope is quite an chliché aswell. But maybe I just over-analyse the few infos we have.

The same thing could be said about Ash's father. Please do not make him just an older copy of Ash's sleazy wannabe-womanizing persona. I see no point in it. In my opinion the only possibility to make that interesting would be, when we are told, that little Ash was a shy little nerd and alway in his father's shadow BEFORE the cabin and that he adopted this behavior afterwards as some kind of coping mechanism. That would be more in line with the movie portrayal of Ash. By the way that would be also the only good way to explain Ash's personal evolution from ED - AoD.

About the trailer in general: You guys covered it well. The Williams residence and Asylum stuff look good but the rest? Screams more American Pie + Zombies. Nothing I ever wanted from ED and nothing, that would give me the hope season 2 could be better than season 1. But I am open for a pleasant surprise.

Nah, I don't think you're overanalyzing at all.

IMO, Sam and Bruce have been trying to retroactively mold ED 1/2 Ash back into the kind of person he was in AOD all along, which results in 'this is who Ash would've turned into if the cabin hadn't happened" equaling "he would be a good time charlie with a toupee and an easygoing manner. " They want to deny that Ash was shy and awkward and romantic and nerdy in the first movie (and was a bit of a geek in 2 until he took a level in badass mid-Deadite attack).  Therefore in their minds Ash's opposite is easygoing, perhaps ambitious.

It'd be more interesting if Ted were playing a staid family man who had bedrock-deep belief in his family's safety, but I so far like Chet the way he is - then again I think the canvas could use a regularly cheerful face.

Apparently his dad is supposed to be a more dour presence, but exactly - I want this to make sense.

Gonna have to disagree to with ya, i just don't think it's right to base a character off a few frames of footage plus the other thing is you gotta not trust these trailers when it comes to this show because they go all over the place with its tone and like to showcase the character's goofy side more then how they actually act in the show. Point is, i think the way they cut this trailer is too just get people hyped for s2 without actually giving away anything in particular so they just threw a bunch of random stuff together to give a general idea of what to expect but also threw in a couple hints at the overall story for this season.

Main Point is, i think it's best we don't over analyze a glorified montage trailer and others trailers going forward with this mindset, just my two cent's *shrug*

To be fair, sometimes the trailer can be an excellent way of determining how a character will generally be used in the show.  For instance, the way the show treated Amanda was pretty neatly reflected in the trailer.  I agree that the other characters didn't get a lot of nuance in them but for minor characters they can sum things up well.  My own two cents!

This looks to be another demon from the book, looks very hellraiser'ish and dare i say more creepier then eligos.

I thought that might be the deadite version of the guy who got his face peeled off (if I interpret that scene correctly).

Then again, this chap appears to be missing more than just the skin on his face...

I'm pretty sure these might be prison guards who were skinned in some way.  And yep, they're very Hellraiser-ish!

Here's the bit in 360.  The regret on Bruce's face after he takes that header. Patent Leather + that stage and fake gore do not mix.

(Also I hope that that haircut is just for the movie he's doing this fall...)

So pablo is mentally tied with the book and is trying to figure out how to cope with it and apparently is going to be in heavy prosthetics for some episodes , kelly is going to be forming a alliance with ruby which i had a feeling was going to be happening given her goal as ruby is a dark one and she can get get her straight to the source of the problem, a lot of  very interesting stuff said here in this interview, and chet's character oh dear lord just keep him away from ash haha.

======================================================================================

Here's ANOTHER interview but with Rob,Lucy and Bruce  (One part of this interview confirms my suspicions that season 1 was rushed production wise and were getting Season 2 in early october ! thank god *phew*)

Here's a interview with all the cast member's  and it provides some light on what ash's father has been going through since his been gone down below is brief character description of brocks character. (I personally cannot wait to see how brock interact's with everyone especially with ruby, i have a feeling those scenes are gonna be great)

Lee Majors, like you’ve never seen him
The Six Million Dollar Man is crashing into Jacksonville, Florida to appear as Ash’s (Campbell) dad, Brock. He makes the cavalier and brash Ash look like an upstanding gentleman in comparison.
“When you get to know Brock, he is such a bigot, such a pig, he’s everything awful. You come to think that Ash Williams is this triumph of nature over nurture.” she said.
Brock becomes enamored with Ruby and insistently hits on her — “and she doesn’t like it,” Lawless added. Brock also has a special name for Ruby, which Majors keeps calling Lawless in real life.

Why is it i wanna see fanart of ruby walking angrily with brock holding onto ruby's leg with lovey eye's while ash facepalms  in the background.

Good news for Army Of Darkness fans here .

"We actually can reference [Army of Darkness], and we reference it in this coming season," Tapert said during IGN's livestream.
"We just don't pull upon that universe, but this coming season Ash is able to talk about events that happened in Army of Darkness, although people are not likely to believe him, of course," he continued."

Guess they finally managed to talk universal into letting them reference it, now we have a concrete timeline and continuity now for this show which is quite simply amazing to say the least, now we don't have to pull our hair out anymore trying to figure were this show fits in the timeline anymore ! That's good to hear. I hope they actually do something meaningful with it, instead of using it as just a throwaway reference or gag. I hope it avoids the creation of even more plot holes and inconsistencies, at least.

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 General Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

I just had a interesting thought/analogy for what his father and his friend chet are to ash in general and it's actually quite striking.

Ash's father and Chet kinda represent ash's own problems with himself or you could say his own personal demons, his father represents ash's loathario way's and chet represents his man-child like behavior for wanting to go drink and party all the time, so it makes me wonder if that ain't angle there doing with this season if that would be the case this could lead to interesting character development for ash !

It is good to hear that they will be able to bring up things involving AoD in the future, and I can't wait to hear how that whole deal came to be... and how they will make use of it on the show going forward. I was beginning to think that wasn't going to ever occur with AvED.

Considering they talk about Chet is "who Ash could have been" had the Cabin weekend not happened, I betcha dollars-to-donuts that it'll be a vision Ash has of what his life would have been like, and an aged Cheryl will be part of it!

Damn, damn cool. I feel like they're starting to take this show seriously.

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 General Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

Another majorly spoilery article so here's a quote from the best part which has now sold me on this season entirely

Meanwhile, those events from the first film will play a role in Ash vs Evil Dead since Ash’s hometown holds him responsible for all those folks who disappeared in a Cabin in the Woods.

“He holds the death of his daughter against him,” Majors, who plays Campbell’s father, says of the characters’ estrangement. “He thinks he was a little bit responsible for it. He thinks he’s a little bit of a nutcase, really. And so, he’s just, ‘You’re here, do what you’re going to do, and get the heck out.’”

Campbell even suggests that Ash Williams has become the antithesis of a local hero. Instead, he is an urban legend, a boogeyman to tell children not to grow up like this primitive screwhead.

“In the town, I’m known as Ashy-Slashy,” hints Campbell. “It’s a bad nickname. They’ve made up an urban song that kids sing. Oh, it’s bad!”

MAJOR SPOILERS IN SOURCE be careful reading it !

I'm still backreading, but quick question - are they livestreaming the panel today?  I know we'll have to keep an eye on Twitter for reaction to the first episode but besides the livestream they're running on Facebook in an hour I was wondering if it'll be airing.

I have no clue about the panel, that might be a upload later situation like last year :/

Here's the live facebook video were they answer some questions, i just love the overall vibe i'm getting from the cast, seems like they had alot of fun shooting season 2.

https://www.facebook.com/ashvsevildead/videos/608851645963298/

Oh Boy, looks like ray followed up on that promise he made to sam when he first joined the show, wonder what will happen with that scene.

Highlights for me.

Overall silly nature everyone is having this year

Ted's lee majors impression

Bruce and Dana arguing

Ray calling ted a camera whore and scene stealer

Here's another interview video !

Pablo's subplot sounds really freaking cool i just hope they can pull off the execution of it and hopefully it will lead somewhere because bruce seems really into what that story entails.

I tend to haunt the AVED hash on Twitter during these times, panel's starting in an hour!

The AvED cast much like the others that worked down in New Zealand before them has some pretty amazing chemistry, and Lee Majors fits in well with everyone... and genuinely seems to be having a good time once he opens up during interviews. I think the interaction between him and Bruce will be a major highlight in season 2.

I seem to recall a video of the panel popping up pretty quickly after it took place last year, and i'm looking forward to seeing what goes down if just to see how the cast handles the trailer Comic-Con wouldn't show because they have done a ton of interviews including Bruce and Lee with Kevin Smith for IMDB. So I doubt there will be many more big reveals coming out, and I don't think the first episode will be airing like they did at the panel last year.
