Why have we never seen a line of original The Evil Dead figures?

Is that a licensing thing?
 
@Guy It's definitely a licensing thing, and perhaps a likeness issue? I know people have been asking for them forever and I'd love Evil Linda and Evil Cheryl figures for my collection!

Well surely SOMEONE own the license?

I mean someone licensed footage out to Ash vs Evil Dead and licensed out the story and Bruces likeness for "The Evil Dead" comic adaptation.

I'd be surprised if the original cast refused to sign likeness rights over, there's money to be made there.

@Guy , the strange thing is that I'm pretty sure Bruce said that he, Sam and Rob outright own the rights to the original movie. So I have no idea why we've had a flood of Evil Dead 2 material and none for TED. But this has been a loooongstanding complaint in the fandom and a thing people want that's not been delivered upon, though we've had an increase in TED teeshirts and apparel.

Sorry Elise, do you mean they're unhappy with the lack of figures from the first Evil Dead? .. I'm one of the frustrated fans that badly wants my Scotty, Cheryl, Linda and Shelly by now ! it's been almost 40 years to echo everyone else !

Not all all. They're unhappy that they didn't get permission or license to the artwork...expect it to be delayed again. :p

Good lord, what were they thinking, not asking the two of them first?!

In a hopefully happier story, there's going to be a SDCC exclusive Ash figure via ScottC and DKE Toys! Limited to 50 figures for $100 a pop!:
