...and if that led into Evil Dead 4 I would 'accept' this remake, but only with Bruce playing Ash again.

... either way , it looks like Bruce gets a cameo at the end  8) : www.deadites.net/

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

he's said in the past that if he was to cameo he would be like crazy Ralph in Friday the 13th warning the kids not to go to the cabin, hope thats not the case haha...

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

I don't even care if BC has a cameo. That won't change how bad I believe it may be. :(

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

If it's not gonna be filmed in its indie horror structure, like the first three installments were. No low budget craft work in the hands of Raimi.

The reality is, the film is likely to be aiming for mainstream audience. Cult fans will never like that idea but it had happened to many other franchises already, Rob Zombie Halloween, remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday 13th remake. But if turns out it's doing well with mainstream, and hopefully doesn't murdered the Evil Dead craft look too harsh. We'll get our sequal. I have no idea if Raimi's stuff ever works this way though.

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

I saw Alvarez's 'Panik Attack' short a couple of years or so ago but i'd forgotten all about it. Impressive stuff for a $10,000 budget. If anything, you'd think he'd be offered the next Transformers movie on the strength of that short but maybe Raimi and co were more impressed with his ability at making $10,000 look like a miliion. Looking at The Evil Dead 2013 on imdb.com, Rodo Sayagues is also getting a co-writing credit ... a long term production partner of Frederico Alvarez judging by the credits on their past flics ..

One of those was El Cojonudo (2005), the synopsis some teens stuck in a disaproving old man's house who reads them the untold legend of El Cojonudo. I haven't seen it but might check it out now.

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

I don't have a whole lot of hope for the remake. But I'll see it once and decide then. It would be cool if the remake was a was a "revival" for the franchise and get it into theaters to get newcomers to watch it and jump on the Evil Dead franchise before Evil Dead 4 comes out. Hey, it could happen, one can dream.

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

I'll give this a chance. At least, unlike with the Buffy remake that was announced, Bruce and Sam are involved in this and have a say.

If they were not involved I'd be all for grabbing the pitchforks, torches and storming the castle.

Maybe is role is Crazy Ash, warning the kids not to go into the cabin - - and saves their asses at the end.

If he plays Ash, wouldn't really be a remake now wouldn't it? ;)

I found an online blog last night that Alvarez and Raimi are now auditioning in Michigan and looking for a female hero lead  .. or it's internet bullshit ... casting a female lead would certainly solve the problem of the: ' How the hell do we find a new Bruce Campbell ? ' question ....... by not trying to and trying something new for the franchise instead. There's only one Bruce Campbell.  ;) .... she could be faster, stronger, more slapstick/deadpan etc but she's gonna be less popular than Jar Jar Binks if she doesn't find her own voice and nail it for most cult movie geeks. Barbara owned Night of the Living Dead, Ripley's lead in the Alien
movies, Jamie Lee Curtis was a staple of the Halloween series .. this could be a step in the right direction for cult movie horror fans if it's done right (and isn't just some bullshit I read last night)  8)

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

Kain's posted on the deadites homepage that again 5 kids will be at the cabin but the script's reason this time will be they're helping one of the party to dry out from drugs. Altruistic intervention. Maybe a small sub plot. I was just thinking how that could be worked into the original's story to update it, so please humour me ..

In  the original Evil Dead, Cheryl is raped by the demons/tree and later becomes the first to become possesed. She's set up as the most vulnerable in other scenes as well: the only one there that is single, she has the fear over listening to the reel to reel etc ..

What if ? : The teen brought to the cabin to dry out is likely to be the most vulnerable. The writer/ writers need someone to be the first to become possesed .. a new loner .. the characters will put down any bizzare behaviour or unwell appearance to this teen just going through withdrawell symptoms ... some of the characters would resent him being there and some would be more charitable to him, causing friction in the group. I can imagine a scene with this junkie kid in bed, one of the group goes to check on him, looks at the needle marks on his arm and we get a new Linda crazy paving style effect ! ...

I hope Tom Sullivan's making the new Book of the Dead. If anyone's good at starting petitions, let's get on this task !  ;)

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

I'm taking everything that I said earlier back. Not sure where, but it is coming back.

I'm not a big proponent of petitions either...  :-\

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

Kain's posted the new The Evil Dead remake's logo on the home page .... the new logo has dropped the 'the' from the title and looks amature. Maybe that's the point ?.  ??? ... it's uninspiring ... it reminds me of those English advertising companys that get paid £500,000 +  for designing logos like the seriously crap 2012 London Olympics logo or the old Conservative party's blobby, splatty brown and green thing that was meant to be a tree ..

I agree. I'm really not impressed.

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

I've just found El Cojonudo, the new director's first horror short, full length on youtube. It's from 2005, subtitled, pretty crazy in places and visually very similar to Raimi's early work. There's some nudity in case anyone's bothered about that.  Enjoy & Happy New Year:

I'm swinging towards looking forward to this remake a bit more after this viewing.

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

Well, having read the plot from MovieHole http://www.moviehole.net/201150056-exclusive-some-spooky-spoilerish-story-details-on-the-evil-dead-remake I'm happy with how things are working out. I mean, The Evil Dead Trilogy was great at the time, with that slapstick humour à la Three Stooges, but that kind of humor just cannot work today in a new horror themed movie. Moving to a more human and serious tone will probably gain more fans with a respect of the horror genre. Today, a comedy-horror movie is more easily forgotten or worse, well remembered as a razzie! I cannot say right now If I'll love the movie, but I'm more interrested now and I'm awaiting the first Teaser/Trailer with great expectations!

Happy new year by the way!  ;)

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

Happy New Year Morsoth, and reading that plot make me wonder if *******SPOILER?******* Mia's dead mother will make an appearance ala Henrietta?
