This last time out before the rumors died, Sam was the one who denied there will be a crossover when his words were misinterpreted at Comic Con a few years ago.
When was that? Cause again when Sam was at Comic Con in 2015 he had said this: https://youtu.be/y0qy4sifQRY?t=539
Has he legitimetly said something recently hinting that that wasnt going to happen?
Actually, Fede's alternated those two answers repeatedly in interviews; as always, the 'true' one has been left to interpretation, since it can't be both.
Do you have any links to Fede saying that the 2013 Evil Dead is a remake and not another Evil Dead movie? Cause honestly i have never heard him say that it wasn't just another Evil Dead movie in any interviews.
I sincerely and honestly don't think that they booted DiGregario from the project because they have some ultimate plan to bring in Mia or make her Ash's kid.
Oh i don't think that they plan to make Mia Ash's daughter either. When Bruce joked about it during Comic Con a few years back Sam said that that wouldn't be the case. I do however think that they are willing to give Mia the nod over Kelly.
I have not watched the DvD behind the scenes stuff but did they actually film the final episode before scrapping it? I dont think so. And the Kelly is Ash's daughter twist is only revealed in that final episode and although you could say it was "hinted" at during the season it wasnt really. Yes they made Kelly have more and more badasss moments but thats something that they would eventually have to do with both the side characters at some point since the show couldnt just be Ash doing all the work, others need to step up too. And that was probably fine with everyone as long as DiGregorio didn't force them into long term situations they didnt want, like making Kelly Ash's daughter. That i think interfered with their long term plan and it was the final nail in the coffin for DiGregorio. But of course we cant be 100% sure about it either way and we will have to wait and see. And again, since there are a lot of pieces that need to be in place for the crossover to actually happen they cant completely tie the showrunner's arms up creatively since that would greatly compromise the show as a whole , but all they can do untill the timing is right is make sure that the crossover window is open and thats what they are doing at the moment i feel.
As for the movie's critical and popular acclaim, the reviews are just above middling at 65 percent, IMDB results aren't the best indicator of popularity due to people with multiple accounts rigging results (If you know anything about the way people used to network on those boards to try an upvote certain projects...just yeah...)
Oh i know that IMDB is full of that for sure but in this particular case i would argue that there are people with multiple accounts trying to do the opposite (as in give it a negative score) for the 2013 Evil Dead raiting. If you looked at the movie's IMDB message boards before they were shut down they were full of trolls who shitted on the remake and everyone involed with it making multiple threads with multiple accounts. People like Veggie (notorious IMDB troll) and many others kept posting shit.
And also thats why i gave other examples such as the fan score for Metacritic and RT.
As far as reddit goes here are some links to very recent threads (as in this past year) talking about the 2013 Evil Dead:

And as a person who frequents in both r/horror and r/movies The 2013 Evil Dead is very often brought up in the discussion in comment threads and its mostly very positive.
in r/moves for example this comment was just posted yesterday.

As far as Kelly's direction in Season 3 goes it remains to be seen and it depends on what their plans for the 3rd season are as a whole and if they are actually expecting for the show to go into a possible season 4 (the raitings are not outstanding) and im not that familiar with how Starz handles things since i litteraly ever heard of it when AvED was announced but how long do they usually have shows last on their network? I wouldn't expect her to change much from what we saw in the 2nd season though. Although i have heard plenty of fan rumors saying that Kelly might team up with Ruby and become some sort of antagonistic duo.
