Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 General Discussion Thread

I'm actually curious to know how much time they're going to have to work on the whole brujo storyline. Unless the real Pablo's in the spirit world while the Deadite inhabits his corporal form.

I'm pretty confident that Brandy lives and Ash dies at this point, but never say never.

@Kain - How accurate was Bloody Disgusting's spoiler post to the action in the first five episodes?

I may be in the minority but even if this show isn't the "Evil Dead" I've wanted since Army of Darkness, it's still a mighty fun time and I still love it. It's also still one of the most unique things on television. We may not get a season 4 which is a huge shame but I am very much still excited for this season even if it's not what I ultimately would have liked. This Ash VS Evil Dead is much better then getting nothing else with the franchise and characters.

We wondered for so long if we would ever get an Evil Dead 4/AoD 2, and we finally got a new Evil Dead in 2013 which isn't nearly as memorable as the original... but when AvED came out it was the Evil Dead we had all hoped for with Bruce as Ash. The show has had its fair share of ups and downs from season 1 to 2 like "Trapped Inside" with Ellen which was fantastically done, and for the most part there have been more ups than downs. Season 3 promises to be interesting to say the least.

I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record and I swear I really HATE being the negative nancy here, but to me, personally, there were certainly far more downs than ups in the first two seasons. The frustration I've been experiencing trying to watch this thing has been immense, and it isn't even because I wanted something else, it's because I honestly think the show is bad on a fundamental level and on nearly every single aspect. I can't just "have fun with it" because I'm unable to find something that I perceive to be as inept as this show entertaining. I honestly can't find anything "fun" about it. To me, the show is just frustrating and depressing to watch. Concerning the "hey, it's better than nothing" comments, I'm sincerely starting to feel like I'd rather go back to having nothing.

I haven't read BD's article yet. I don't really like going to their site.

Another promo:

Yeah Bloodydisgusting is pretty awful with their opinions which I feel bad for saying as everyone is entitled to their opinions but more often or not they seem to love or hype awful movies often. Also not a fan of these Ash VS Evil Dead teasers. Just too over the top corny just like last years beer commercials. I think the advertising for this show is doing more harm then good.

Getting off the whos your daddy crap the starz marketing team is churning out here's some new footage showcasing more of the actual father/daughter elements this season. Loving what i'm seeing so far. (Poor brandy, good lord)

"I wish you were the one that was dead"

Ouch.

Pretty much how I feel.

The teaser Joe just posted is an exception; this does a nice job setting up their dynamic.

They are on the press junket tour right now, with plenty of interviews to come during the week. Here's one with dana and she mentions that the middle of this season going forward is like a finale for each episode. And given kain's reaction previously 1-3 is going to be build up episodes before 4-5 are the kickstart towards final leg of the season (she talks about this around 53:17). And the two main themes for this season are, destiny and family.

She also mentions us seeing a more emotional side of ash we haven't seen yet with brandy, a darker side of pablo And kelly feeling lost.

I have a good feeling all the good emotional stuff will be in the later half of this season from episode 5 going forward.
The dead world episodes will probably invoke those kinda reactions.

In general i'm just happy and glad to hear they are wrapping all the threads up with each character for this season and giving them proper conclusions.

Catching back up tomorrow, but another commercial, this one in the vein of the whole emoji thing they were doing on Tumblr last season; spoilers though most everything is covered up with graphics:

Something about seeing pablo laughing like a mad man with chaos happening all around him is quite the sight to see compared to seeing how he was in the first 2 seasons. This is quite the change for his character.

To say that I simply don't understand the marketing for this show anymore would be an understatement... I stopped trying to make sense out of it or figure out what it's trying to accomplish a long time ago.

They're trying to market to the twenty-something audience, but they also can't seem to figure out what they like, so it's a mishmosh of memes new and old.

For instance, I think this is a parody of that old viral video that covered up various porn movie scenes in a similar way.

I have no idea if this is accurate but I'd love to see if any enterprising person has actually kept score; from the official Tumblr:

And here is the first clip of the season, timestamped from the middle of a Bruce interview.

It's probably not accurate at all, if i'm willing to guess. How the hell can you even count blood spraying ?

Very carefully! :D

im loving all the new creatures and demons this season. A lot more variety then beyond mostly deadites and 1 unique demon and 1 to 2 returning deadites

This quote sums up the whole series so far for me Jo .. " you guys are doing a great job on the show, there's tragic depths to Ash's character but he's unphased and keeps taking everything on the chin, so well written. The special effects are rockin', the script is well done and the supporting characters are solid. Keep up the good work" ...

When you take into consideration everything Ashley's been through since that first night in the cabin to date .. a person would become either a quivering mess or a total sociopath .. I forgive him for being a sex addict pot smoking alcoholic whatever these days although Ashley was clearly repressed somewhat when you consider how gentle he was in The Evil Dead, I don't buy his 70's bedroom from season 2 .. Ash was a good boy in the 70's and only later became a bastard out of necessity.

I'm kind of eh on the creature variety; the mascot and
Ruby's demon baby
are still my faves so far.

I'd 100 percent endorse this idea (and it makes perfect sense even within the original trilogy itself) but within AvED it's hard for me to agree with, mostly because they re-wrote Ash from being somewhat shy and bookish and romantic by virtue by turning him into a drunken teenage hellraiser in season 2 to explain Chet. The implication was that he's always been like this and it's a reaction to his father's autocratic parenting.
