Army of Darkness/Evil Dead Comics Discussion Thread!

I'm interested in seeing what they do RE Die!Namite. I was actually surprised he wasn't used in the first run.

Second set of covers for Die!Namite #2. Just posting the two Ash-based covers:

The hit series returns, cuz you can't kill a never-ending army of zombies...you can only hope to beat the $%&# out of them! After tragically losing their first Chosen One against the zombie plague, Vampirella, Miss Fury, and what remains of the Project Superpowers look for a new savior -- but Ash Williams is an even more reluctant Deadite hunter than usual! This time, the Army of Darkness has ray guns, super powers and a brilliant new general: Evil Sonja, who takes her role of Queen of Hel quite seriously!

Issue drops July 14th.

Yep, I skipped it but will probably pick up the GN for the first edition.

I loved Bolton's art for that one but I didn't care much for what he did re explaining away character motivations.

Ash-centric covers for Die!Namite #3! Top to bottom: Arthur Suydam, Dave Acosta + variants. Hey, Ash finally gets to do a leg cling of his own!

HAWAII! Surfers! Bikinis! Evil zombies! Flesh-eating superheroes! And Vampirella meets the wrong end of Ash's BOOMSTICK! Absolute batsh*t craziness from FRED VAN LENTE (Wolverine) and VINCENZO CARRATU (Zorro)!

Coming out August 18th!

Hehe, true, but I ended up finding the issue two and issue three covers back to back!

Here's a handful more covers of the first issue.

How are the Die!Namite comics? I only got a few where he battles the classic monsters, I know Bruce Campbell isn't very fond of them.

I'm not picking up my first issue 'til around July, so I'll let you know then - Previews here at Dynamite's website.

If you're gonna go with a Dynamite run, I'd suggest Steve Niles' Ash and the Army of Darkness and Ash Gets Hitched, both of which are nie on perfect codas for AOD.

It's going to be a great year for Evil Dead/AOD comics releases!

I collected the single issues of Death to the Army of Darkness and will buy the TPB, but I think I'll only wait the TPB for DIE!NAMITE vol. 2. DIE!NAMITE Vol. 1 (without Ash) gets released on Aug. 17, and I'll get this because I'm a completist!

I'm still waiting for the TPB of Xena/AOD Omnibus (Jun. 29) and Death to the Army of Darkness (Aug. 24).

Great news for the upcoming hardcover edition of the Evil Dead: 40th Anniversary graphic novel. Not the best adaptation, but still nice to have. I wished they could have more bonus pages, because this release is 120 pages, and my softcover TPB is 112 pages, so, really, it's only 8 more pages with the 'fancier' hardcover. I'll get it anyway! :D

Hope John Bolton will complete the ED trilogy by making a graphic novel of Evil Dead 2.

Yes, me too! And if it ever happen, I hope they stick 100% to the Evil Dead 2 movie this time. I hated the changes made in The Evil Dead comics (that ending was absolutely terrible). The changes in the Army of Darkness comics are great, because they were based on the script and it is, in a way, the Director's Cut adaptation (I loved the inclusion of the Deadite scene with the pillar temple that was planned but never shot).

I'll be sure to check those ones out first then! AOD is my favorite of the series so they'll probably be right up my alley.

That's cool that they made changes toe the Army of Darkness comics based off the script. I would love to see them do a full Evil Dead 2 graphic novel adaptation like they're doing with the first one now.

I still feel like I owe Steve Niles my firstborn, that's how much I love the work he did on the series.

@Morsoth

Between the personality changes they gave everyone and the "EVIL DEAD WAS ONLY A DREAM" setup for the ED2 adaption, that version still leaves me cold.

I have finally update my Evil Dead Timeline! It was supposed to be a quick update, but I ended up doing a complete redesign by moving things around, and by changing all the pictures for bigger ones. Now, it looks more structured (but damn, it took me the whole day!).

I've included the upcoming game, movie, and comic series. Since almost nothing is known about Evil Dead Rise, I decided to 'somewhat link it' with the remake (if Ash or any character of the main movies/series appears or are referenced, I'll change the link.). I also decided to link the new The Army of Darkness 1979 comic book series as a sequel to Die!namite Lives!, because Dynamite's synopsis begins as "After his most recent appearance in Die!namite Lives, Ashley Williams is retired. [...]". So, I guess the series is a continuity, but we can never be sure about these synopsis. If the series is another fresh start, I'll move Dienamite and Die!namite Lives in the crossover section, and have The AOD 1979 comic on it's own.

Edit: I slightly edited the image!
