Ash vs Evil Dead General Discussion Thread [NO SPOILERS]

I'm shocked by the lack of dvd/Blu Ray info that has come out, and looking on some of the upcoming release sites there is no sign of AvED season #1. My fingers are crossed that we will hear something by March, or April though.

And we have series news!  The show and Bruce are up for some Saturn Awards.

@Nick - I'm thinking they're gonna try and release it somewhere around when the second season debuts. My prediction is early fall/late summer, in time for the holiday shopping season. I wonder if Bruce's now-deleted season premiere announcement is why they keep delaying the DVD announcement.

It's really weird that Starz made all their Ash vs Evil Dead trailers private on their youtube channel.

the main s1 trailer is still up (it seems they re-released it with different sound effects, could possibly be for the digital platforms release, the space truckin one was way better though) plus all the extra BTS videos aswell are still up, i wouldn't look to much into it plus it could just be them clearing the floor for s2 trailer's who knows *shrug*.

If there is something this show really doesn't need, it's more generic rock&roll elevator music. I would really want to know why they did this. Maybe there was a legal issue with the Purple song? But they changed not only that, but almost every other sound effect in the trailer. So... what gives?

My only guess is that it was to get rid of Space Truckin', because everything else is the same, and they used the new foley to smooth over the transitions. Maybe a digital remaster, maybe a budget change. Either way, Starz doesn't seem to get rid of old trailers when a new season starts - they, for instance, still have Highlander's pre-release teasers up and they're in the middle of season three. It also really screws AvED over RE hits, because once upon a time that thing had a million plus on it. Now it's got 500, and probably won't hit a million again.

That makes me wonder how limited the rights are for the eventual DVD release. Has anyone bought any digital episodes? Is the music intact?

Ash vs evil dead has won two awards at the ihorror awards for best horror series and best male performance in a tv series

Good on them, nice to see!

Anyone know when the deadline for Fango Awards voting is?

Ahh, so close!

I think they have a better chance at the Saturn than the Fango but we'll have to see; I think the remake got shut out with the string of noms it got.

Some potentially good news about starz stand alone streaming service, apparently they  have been getting good numbers with the amazon service and it looks like they might be changing there mind on having you be subscribed to the network itself and it just being a stand alone thing, but i'd wait and see but still it's something  :) .

"During a recent conference call, Albrecht said Starz is close to rolling out a stand-alone app so consumers who don't subscribe to Starz on traditional cable or satellite can pay to stream some Starz and Encore content over the Internet."

Not surprising - I have no idea what HBOGo's numbers do to influence shows (they might have influenced that second season pick-up for Vinyl that no one can make sense of), but anything helps.

I wonder if this would be like the limited trial stuff Hulu does where you can access half an archive but not the full until you agree to terms?

A streaming service without cable and unlimited downloads on those episodes so you can enjoy them offline aswell and it's only 9.00 bucks a month ?

Hopefully they can get this app onto other platforms and it can be accessed for people outside the u.s

A useful step in the right direction, but at that price it's only gonna be useful to people who're just subbing for a particular series or Starz-only content; it costs about as much as Netflix would every month. For those comparison shopping, it'll cost you about three times what buying a whole season through itunes would cost; worth it if you like other Starz shows or are into their movie content, I think.

They've updated the official store with an oven mitt and a "Deadite Grinder"

I'm surprised they haven't done a version of the beer pong set they were promoing before!

You would really have to dig deep to even know this, but an Ash vs Evil Dead officially licensed calendar is coming out. I found out by accident after visiting the comic book shop today to pre-order some Evil Dead comics and it popped up in their pre-orders. It will have the last 4 months of 2016 and all of 2017.

Interesting! I wonder if what they end up using will be stills, publicity shots or action stills.

Some very interesting and "makes you think how far"news here for the Evil Dead franchise as a whole,  but i wouldn't get too excited as it might not happen but here's the article.

Man if this were to happen and the show got atleast got some of those nominations, oh man would that be quite the feat for this franchise.
