Here's a huge article from ign about season 2 and i'm really loving the premise they have for season 2 sounds a lot better then season 1

And heres a major highlight from this article that puts one mystery to bed.

and it sounds like ruby will be joining the ghostbeaters aswell to help undue her mess.

Wait there's going to be a episode in a asylum :o HOLY SHIT can't wait to see that episode, overall i am loving all the stuff i've heard from this article.

Source : http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/06/22/ash-vs-evil-dead-is-going-bigger-and-bloodier-in-season-2

Hmmmm.   On one hand yay, Ash isn't from Florida.  On the other hand, how much time are we going to spend in Florida waiting for him to make an emotional turn-around?   I like the idea of him being so loyal to his dad, or perhaps wanting to impress him that much.   It's hard to know where the line is for Ash when it comes to how much he's supposed to care about people.

The mix of genres might be a good development (adding variety).  But it could make the lack of cohesion between the episodes worse than it already was.

At least there seems to be some sort of thoughtline with Ruby now.  I still don't know why an ancient demon wouldn't be super happy that the world's going to (literal) hell all around her, so her becoming an ally is an odd choice.  At least they foreshadowed it in the season finale.

i have a feeling that the first episode is going to be him coming to terms with what he did and at the end of it decides to head back to Michigan to save his father. The other thing i liked hearing is that there trying to correct the missteps they had in season 1, it's good to hear they knew a few things weren't quite right with the first season and hopefully they corrected it.

SHOT IN THE DARK THEORY

I wonder if ruby will teach pablo some spells as she seemed keen on the shaman culture when she went inside tio's house so it makes me wonder if ruby won't act as a second teacher to him if she is indeed teaming up with them for season 2

That'd be perfectly acceptable.  And I really like that second theory; they need to integrate Ruby into things somehow, and I desperately want something to be done with Pablo's shamanism versus making him the series' chewtoy.  That was one of the best plot threads that got dropped mid-season.

Here's a interview with bruce campbell that took place last night at the Saturn awards, he teases some stuff about season 2 and what he said about pablo has got me excited  :D

Source (video is in the source) : http://collider.com/bruce-campbell-ash-vs-evil-dead-season-2-interview

The Pablo stuff's been lightly hinted at RE the Shamanism, and the brujo necklace last season; at least they're going to do something with this.

Ash fighting internal organs might explain why we had an autopsy scene in that BTS pictures leak.

I am afraid to find out what the fuck the robotic hand scene is.

Also I'm super tired of LOL Ash screws up.  That's a character flaw, but FFs must we keep going back to the same well?  Do it once, it's the premise of the series.  Do it too many times and it looks like he's bashing his head against a wall.

Yea now that bruce has hinted at what might be instore for pablo this season, it's got me more hyped for this season more then anything.

It sounds like to me brock is gonna bring attention to his hand and ash is gonna reply back with some refrence to the bionic man or something like that, as for the ash screws up thing, with the info we've been given so far of s2 i have a feeling were gonna see ash develop somewhat as a character this season, but until then whatever happens happens *shrug* plus bruce did say they might prevail this time around this season but i ain't gonna hold his word to it.

The thing i'm curious about right now is who is the main antagonist for this season, my moneys on rubys children being the main enemies.

I wouldn't mind that theory panning out - my brain went in another direction entirely but that would be cheesy good.

It'll have to be the children  - or whatever the book spawned at her bidding.  Which could be anything.

It looks like the second unit is still shooting; Dana wrapped on Friday.

ETA: Bruce is on Twitter trying to court Lynda Carter to play Ash's mother. I don't know why he keeps approaching actresses who are barely two years older than him to play his mom (Lynda Carter is only seven years older than Bruce;before that it was Carrie Fisher, who's only two years his senior) but the reason why he never hears back from them should be obvious :p That might mean good things for season three, but who knows? He also cut his hair into a buzz cut, which is usually a traditional sign that he's done with a role (see the very short haircut he got when he wrapped Burn Notice).

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 Pre-Prod Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

Sara West will be appearing on AvED for at least two episodes as a character named "Tanya" she's described as being a bookworm character, here's a quote from the article

AfterDon’t Tell wrapped she went to Auckland to film two episodes of Ash vs Evil Dead as a character named Tanya, whom she describes as a bookworm. “It was fun to do because it stretched me in a really different way,” she says. “It was really heightened, whereas everything I normally do is quite close to home in terms of emotions.” She enjoyed her scenes with Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams and the other regular cast members, observing, “They are all such good friends, a really cool group of people. Bruce is the crazy one and everyone else around him plays it for real.”

The people here at Deadites are always on it when it comes to new images and other such stuff. I wonder if Dana is holding an ax, a sledgehammer, or something new because the handle is squared.

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 Pre-Prod Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

God this season is already shaping up to be something special, good to know were going to see more ruby this season, plus it's quite interesting ash's hometown is going to be the center of evil, btw if you look around in the background it looks like there at some old mining or plant factory, another thing to point out is the huge necklace kelly has around her neck, could it be a possible protection totem from pablo or something else entirely.

GAHHH i'm just so excited to see some footage can't wait any longer  :D

I think my favorite thing about that picture is that everyone else is all dirty and grimy, but Pablo's squeaky clean.   Is it weird to say the photography style reminds me of Aliens?

Here's an interview with the production design team talking about the challenges of crafting Michigan in New Zealand, mild spoilers and a hattip to Elise.

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 Pre-Prod Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

Breakdown/random thoughts /General Feelings post about the overhaul of info we've gotten so far.

Before i get on with s2 info breakdown, i can't help but feel there's a night and day difference here with how production has went for AvED this year, and i think the main problem with how s1 went last year was the premiere date and the scheduling probably played a factor in hurting the creative process for both the scripts and effects for last years season. So it makes me wonder if starz didn't rush them out the door with last years production to meet the halloween deadline and as i said above didn't end up hurting the time to construct the practical effects and a good script cause if you looked in the BTS effects for "bringing the deadites to life" @0:54 and @ 1:01 in the video they actually made a real tio skeleton to be used. Plus in the bts video for episode 10 criag even mentioned them having to request extra days to film some more of the gore shots.

But now with season 2 there's a sense in the interviews and articles that have come out that there's a sense of organization and goals they wanted to accomplish this season and another thing that is refreshing to hear is this.

The writing team learned from missteps in Season 1 to create an even stronger and more focused sophomore season, taking advantage of Ash vs Evil Dead's tight half-hour running time to tell organic Evil Dead stories that surprise viewers in unexpected and crowd-pleasing ways. - IGN

They really hit the ground running this year with their early start and i strongly suspect that starz upped there budget for this season as well judging from this quote  from the effects crew interview posted by maid

“Working with Sam on the first season,” he told us, “there were always going to be ideas and memories of the original Evil Dead that the production was going to draw on. A lot of the palette and tone for the prosthetics have their bases in original makeups made for that film. We have tried to push the makeups in terms of style and application to suit a fast turnaround show and give them a more realistic retro feel.”

“Realistic,” at least, in terms of the retro feel of the movie franchise itself, something echoed by production designer Nick Bassett: “Towards the end of season one,” he says “we diligently replicated the Evil Dead 2 cabin set. This process was great training ground for season two where we were required to conceptualize Ash’s hometown and family house.”

Bassett talks about a research trip to Michigan — Sam Raimi’s home state, and where the original indie
Evil Deadflicks were filmed — compiling “photo references and notes,” along with the “mythical quality,” of the original production design. “We tried to inject that spirit and detail into Ash’s home town. We are ever mindful of the fans and do not want to disappoint.”

Anyways enough of me rambling here's my breakdown on a couple subjects from the info we've learned about so far.

Ruby

So we all assumed that ruby would be the main enemy for this season but they completely flipped the script and are  making her tag along with the crew which could add a different dynamic to the overall team of the ghostbeaters, which could lead to a lot of interesting scenarios and conversations plus the team now has someone who actually knows how to use the book, and she can also act as a another mentor towards pablo and kelly,  a lot of roads they could go down with this and i can't wait  :D

Pablo being more then a sidekick

Bruce hinted at pablo being more then just a sidekick this season, which could mean a lot of things one of them being his brujo heritage and how it could be possible that he figures out how to use the necklace his uncle gave him. Another thing i'm hopeful for is we get to see pablo and kelly get more involved in the action as well this season plus we get more unique fight scenes this season as well.

Overall this season is starting to shape up to be a lot better then season 1, let the long road to comic con begin  :D

Good god is the gore ramped up this season !  :D

Plus i was right in saying starz upped there budget for this season because it has a whole different feel and look to it in general, there was some cgi in there but even that looks alot better too !

Will be doing a breakdown of this teaser, there's alot to take in so stay tuned !

There's been a lot of pre-press saying they're doing an ep set in an insane asylum. This is presumably one of the character's doctors getting someone to work out their anti-Ash aggression on a puppet.

Also we're back to October for the start date again.

My reactions:

Positives: Practical gore, that look between Kelly and Pablo, Kelly kicking ass, the intestine fight felt as Evil Dead-ish as the Lill Lori fight in the pilot, Ruby kicking ass, Ash kicking ass while soaked in blood (duh).

Negatives: I saw those CGI shots you snuck in, guys.

I know everyone's super excited, but I remain cautious.  I keep remembering last year's trailer, which had amazing-looking effects that got slathered over with CGI in post-prod (The Elligos stuff).  So I'm concerned they might go in that direction again.  It's at least a better step in the right direction.

(Also I didn't pick up much of a budget or gore difference between this and last season?  IDK.  They had as much blood but it wasn't as well-lit?)

Also we're back to an October debut.

Actually the cgi looks 10x better then it did in the first season let's hope they keep it down to a minimum and they focused heavily on practical effects this season , I can obviously tell there's been a lot more effort put in for this season and looks so much bigger in scale which makes me say that starz gave them a much bigger budget then what was given for last years season, i'm excited but cautious aswell but so far that early start to production this year has paid off well for them :D.

Season 1 did have it's moments with the blood and gore but in comparison to this season 2 teaser, it wipes the floor with the gore and blood that was split in season 1 bar none, the first episode looks like its going to be just a gruesome slaughter fest.

and as for that nostalgic critic comparison....
