Clap, clap, clap.

Hahaha, gotta love it, it's like music to my ears honestly.

Bruce always says this shit tho.  If they get a renewal they'll say it's "EVEN BETTER THAN SEASON 2 WE FIXED IT HONEST"

He knows the audience has been halved and the trailer views are way down from last year.

"Would the cast ever do a musical episode? Dana and Ray say they've talked about this very thing. @AshvsEvilDead #PaleyFest Fall TV"

Every show does one, but please don't carry this on with AvED.

I want an ED: TM special TBH.  You know someone wants to compete with the NBC/Fox line-up of live musicals with something more daring.

You know I hadn't even thought of that, and that would be pretty sweet to see if they could pull it off.

I don't know about most numbers, but DVD/Blu-ray sales did really good... and I think a deal will come soon enough for season 3. Most shows on Starz don't put up insane numbers, and they would be foolish to let AvED end.

I think it did something like 50k in a week?  Was it 500k?  Which is pretty good, but it fell off pretty quickly after the first three days.

At this point they're still around...fourth place?  Fifth?  on the network.  They're losing Black Sails this year and picked up The Girlfriend Experience, which is actually doing worse than AvED, so IDK what the hold-up is.  Licensing?  Budget?  I wonder if Starz is waiting to see what kind of numbers American Gods pulls.

@Maid

They do that stuff on every show and say "THIS SEASON IS WAY BETTER" (*COUGH* TWD *COUGH*) to generate hype, so it dosen't surprise me much here.

Bruce did a little brief interlude to that "Musical" episode

The panel just ended, and from the looks of it the thing will be fun to see if someone posts it. Come on, Ash vs Evil Dead social media team don't let us down.

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 General Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

I'm guessing it's not going to end up anywhere but Hulu under paid lock, since they're their social media sponsors.

Here's a small clip of ash introducing his father to Pablo and kelly.

Welp that seals it for me, lee majors is gonna own this role, ash's overall attiude in this scene is great and pablo's facial reaction to the green card was just priceless.

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 General Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

Still don't like the character portrayal, but damn, that's some fine acting from Mr. Majors. The writing is still very cringeworthy, but I like the "dead to each other" line. So it's pretty much 50/50 for me. The clip is only a few seconds long and it was enough to get me divided on it. There's stuff I like in it and stuff I really don't. Apparently, it looks as though my opinion on this season will remain exactly the same as it was on season 1.

I think brock's lines are supposed to be that way tbh, hell the other characters are even embarrassed at some of the stuff his saying even ash is too. It's just a small clip though, i think we should wait before we leap in saying this season is down the tube off a 30 second clip.

But man i still love this casting choice for his dad just perfect imo.

You and me both. William Shatner is cool and all, but that would've been a joke for joke's sake. Lee Majors can actually bring something to the role other than a funny persona and seems much more at home in the ED world than Shatner would ever be.

I think the resemblance between Lee Majors and Bruce Campbell is uncanny, and the man really could be his dad so much so that someone should interview Bruce's family. I'm just kidding about that one, haha.

If you've ever seen pictures of Bruce's dad, Lee actually looks a whole lot like him, facially.

He reblogged a interview that said there's a moment that would 'make even John Waters' cringe.

Am I the only one bothered by this season's apparent focus on crude sexual/bathroom humor? The fact that they keep acting as if this has been a staple of the ED series so far when that clearly isn't the case is also pretty annoying. All of the instances of gross humor to be found on the films were always based on absurd violence and cartoony gore with a layer of silly Three Stooges antics over it. That's actually very different in style from the stuff they're teasing. It was never about accidentally having sex with deadites or getting your head shoved up a corpse's ass. Insisting on that as a "feature" of season 2 is making me think that once again they're completely missing the point in terms of writing style and just turned to offering us a lot of gross stuff without the usual great filmmaking to back it up.

Also, the casting of Lee Majors as Ash's dad was a stroke of genius. Unfortunately, everything I've seen of him on these teasers doesn't do much to make me confident they'll do it justice when it comes to character portrayal. To me, it's already starting to look more and more like just another missed opportunity in a show that's already full of them.

Sigh... Here I go again negatively overanalyzing this thing. I try to stay positive. I wanna stay positive. I really do, I swear.

You're not, the writers seem to have this preoccupation with drinking and drug use too, which I've brought up before. I'm not sure who they're trying to appeal to with that. I like to get baked before I re-watch the movies, true enough, but that doesn't mean I need to see Ash behave in a similar manner. It's like the harder they try to be "cool", the less it works, for me anyway.

Been checking out the latest pictures, and listening to the interviews (or reading them) and those have kind of made me give up on the idea that we'll get any quality solo Ash time. It makes sense that they're trying to focus more on Ash as he relates to other people in a TV show where Bruce has a number of co-stars, I get that. I just feel very strongly that those 'Ash by himself being tormented' moments are a lot of what Evil Dead is all about, I mean we get a decent chunk of that in all 3 films, I just wish the show would make a little time for that kind of stuff. As it is they've promised to flesh out the rest of the cast (especially Pablo and Kelly), so that will be cool if they follow through. I suppose I like them both, but I still don't feel like I know them enough to care properly about their respective fates. I guess my point is that the focus of the show has shifted to allow for a regular cast, but at the expense of one of my favorite elements of the movies. Anyway, despite all this complaining I will be watching; I think I'll adjust my expectations and see where they go with this, I may not like the look of it so far, but I'm certainly willing to reserve judgement until I've watched it.

They seem to be chasing some sort of stoners-in-their-twenties demo.  The thing is, the show seems to be skewing older.

I still think it's as shame they're doing less Bruce-alone-against-the-elements.

I'd love this to happen TBH.  It'd be well at home on someplace like SyFy.

I liked the last line a lot, and Lee Majors' performance is pretty good, but the 'let's have Brock be exactly like Ash because comparison stuff is being laid on too thick.  And I'm afraid to ask what he says to Kelly that gets bleeped out.

Still waiting for someone (AKA Hulu) to post the full version of Paleyfest; no luck so far, they're currently several panels behind.

We'll have our impressions up soon.

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 General Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

The reviews from After Movie Diner and Fan Boy Nation seem to confirm a lot of my impressions and indicate that even though the performances, effects and practical filmmaking aspects are top notch, the show still has problems concerning the writing, character portrayal/interactions and overall style. This season is looking to be just as divisive as the first. The second episode problems they touch upon seem to be the same stuff I'm probably gonna have issues with - infantile and scatological humor and character interactions. Those reviews did get me excited about seeing Elk Grove and the first episode opening scene, though. Even someone who isn't as confident about the show and learned not to expect much from it as much as me can agree that the Elk Grove set and the opening scene are looking good.

There's one more up on Forbes, for those who care to disable their adblocker.

I know some people who got screeners whose opinions are generally right in line with these reviews; their concerns about the writing still have my confidence at a wobbly level.

RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 General Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]

You both did great jobs!

@Kain - since you mentioned the dialogue nosediving, does it end up being better or worse than last year's season average? Also what's the revision to Ash's backstory?

I'm also terribly curious about what the big horrifying thing in the second episode is because everyone keeps talking about.

For those waiting, the Paleyfest panel is finally up on Hulu, but you'll have to either use their free trial or your own subscription to watch it.
