RE: Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 General Discussion Thread [SPOILERS]
They're trying to market it to 18-22 year old guys, judging from the frat tour plus the way they do sosh marketing. I think those are an attempt to get a more sophisticated audience, which is odd. Very few people are watching the ancillary media stuff. I think only the Ash for President stuff has made any leeway for them; the beer commercials and these other ads have gone nowhere.
Unfortunately they're mostly attracting a 30-40 year old demo judging from their Facebook (the only piece of social media where they have an actual consistent following; the Instagram and Tumblr are ghost towns and the Twitter can be spotty).
DyD said:These videos are fun and all, but the marketing for this show has been baffling to me. Seriously, what does that stuff has got to do with Evil Dead? It wouldn't bother me much if these were just nice little extras, but it's basically all of their marketing for the show. These The Office parodies, those beer commercials and the whole Ash 4 President stuff... It's all just so random and none of it actually has anything to do with the actual show. It's always either some sort of parody of other stuff or an attempt to forcefully insert ED into unrelated stuff. What exactly is the audience they're marketing for? Do these videos actually do anything to get you excited about AvED? The marketing doesn't even make it clear what AvED actually is. I guess we can include the marketing team into the ever-growing list of people involved with the show who apparently have no clue what to do with the property. But hey, it's all "crazy" and "zany", so I guess it's good, right? *sigh*
