Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 General Discussion Thread

It went back up to 0.08 in comparison to the 0.07. So, something seems to be turning around, maybe.

It also shifted slots ratingswise and became the 108th most popular show on cable. It's a decent leap on the charts, but the loss of total viewers still doesn't look promising.

They could always combine the two with the Ghostbeaters teaming up to take on an evil Mia as it would be the best of both worlds.

Mia eventually becoming evil would be the ideal way to go for me if they were to tie in all the characters. I've always felt like that was the fate of her as a character since the kandarian demons dont just simply let someone walk away like that and she would definitely be permanently scared. Which was originaly one of the reasons why i though it would have been awesome if she ended up being Ash's daughter. Having Ash find his child , that has been also tortured by the deadites like him just so that he eventually has to kill her too would really bring Ash's journey into full circle with having wittnessed pretty much everyone in his family die because of him.

I felt much the same way about combining the narratives that fashion. I think it's quite possible they backed off that idea, since as Bruce says in the second memoir, that "the fans wanted Ash and Sam Raimi," and said Fede's film was "close but no cigar." Maybe taking this mind made them reconsider that option, said as it makes me, as I was very much looking forward to it. Of course, if a season 4 materializes, it may still happen.

The ending would be a major downer, but it is the only way I could see it happening if it does as it would wrap everything up in a nice neat little bow.

My coming out: I've never watched the Remake because I am not a huge gorehound. I only read the script before the movie's release and altough I missed Ash (of course!) I really liked it. Keeping that in mind I would not have a problem with new directors picking up the trilogy.

It really doubt it will ever happen, but if Sam would come back I would love a movie that balances creepy atmosphere, pure horror, real life drama and comedy a little better. In my opinion Drag Me To Hell and also many elements of his pilot episode managed that quite well.

The thing is that the father/daughter storyline has already manifested itself in the form of Brandy so it would have to be a different story Arc.

Eh im a fan of downer endings personaly, im kinda tired of the whole "turns out all of the main characters somehow survived" endings. Which is why i was personaly happily surprised when Pablo was first killed and we got to see Ash deal with that, finally having some real stakes in the show, ended up being dissapointed when they just brought him right back after that.

Kinda funny being an Evil Dead fan and not being a gorehound however i get what you mean, the gore in the remake looked a lot more realistic and in your face than the original trilogy for sure.

Actually i remember Fede saying in a reddit QnA that if a crossover movie happens he wants Sam Raimi to direct it. So maybe they've talked about it briefly?

Yeah, I'm with you. I have always been a fan of the apocalyptic ending to Army of Darkness more than the S-Mart ending, but some people like a happy ending... or something that is more open ended for big wigs who like $equels.

I'm glad he is back because I really like Ray Santiago as an actor, and it looks like Pablo could be going through a hell of a lot more in the second half of season 3 . He finally got a payoff for an earlier comment about maybe being a pick up truck guy, but couldn't get the writers to let him shave his head in the show, heh.

Hehe, yeah that's funny indeed. In fact beside the original trilogy many of my favorite movies use explicit violence (like The Thing or Alien for example), but they all have a interesting atmosphere, compelling Story or just a innovative film making in common. Violence just for the sake of it like in Hostel or other torture porn is not so much my cup of tea.

Oh me neither, fuck the entire Saw franchise (except for the 1st one). Never a fan of Hostel either. I definitely wouldn't put the Evil Dead remake in the torture porn category, not even close to that in my opinion. Its pure horror with top notch practical effects.

I guess I have to give it a try. After reading the script I was positively surprised but did not have the urge to watch it knowing the ending and all ...

ive seen all the saw and hostel movies. I would say theyre NOT just about violence for the sake of violence, although they are much more raw than the evil dead movies. evil dead is campy and silly and fun, and saw and hostel are all about "what do you do when youre hopelessly trapped in an absolutely hellish experience with no imaginable way out?" those movies are well made in the sense that they really mess with your emotions. theyre definitely a different class of horror, basically on the opposite end of the horror spectrum from evil dead. but theyre still well done and quite good.

How likely is that the proposed merger will happen? If it does occur, would it be within the show if it gets a 4th season, or as a movie?

Its more unlikely than likely at this point, however if it ever were to happen it would be om a future movie. I honestly dont see the show lasting for more seasons.

Evil Dead 2013 is more of its own movie than a full on remake. I saw the movie twice in theater, and it was shot well by Fede who had only done some self made shorts to that point... but the most memorable thing about it is Mia (Jane Levy) who did an amazing job. I also think there were some big scenes they cut from the movie that would have made it a lot more enjoyable. It wouldn't hurt to check it out though.

I think there was some talk early on of if they get a full run there was the potential for bringing the two together after a follow up from Fede a potential Evil Dead 2 (enter year made here) and a stand alone film such as Evil Dead 4. Although looking it up only brought up an article from Bloody Disgusting with an image of a Tweet Bruce made about the possibility of a crossover. So it has likely been talked about Sam, Bruce, and Rob to some extent. However, we shall have to see how things go after this season comes to an end.

Coming in with some bad news.

Seems like Bruce is pretty confident on the show ending and Ash ending with it as well.

His been saying this for the past couple of days now(makes me wonder if he didn't hear the news), honestly it seems like the writing is on the wall at this point if bruce is already calling it.

At least we got three seasons of it and didn't end on just 1 season, hopefully they can go out with a bang with this final season. Makes me wonder how the later half of this season will be.

I'm pretty much braced for the inevitable cancellation announcement; Starz just announced a multi-season pick-up for Power and that they're picking up another Phillipa Gregory adaption, so they're making some choices as pilot season goes on. Either Bruce knows or he assumes it's over.

I'm going to write some kind of long-form essay as to what the heck went wrong eventually, but it's kind of boggling to really sit and think about.

As much as I’ve loved the show if it ends on season 3, I would rather have a final crossover movie with Mia vs trying to keep the show running on another network. The only other place I could really see this working is Netflix anyway
