Evil Dead Burn | Official Thread

So it's today the trailer is released in the U.S. . I'll cross my fingers it's online by tomorrow before The Mummy's released.

Variety has reported on content out of CinemaCon for Sony who has put out a trailer for one movie and a poster (for Spider-Man: Brand New Day) after showing what they were up to yesterday, and the Warner Bros. Big Picture Presentation takes place at 4:30-6:30 our time. Stay tuned for potential updates.

By the way, CinemaCon is in Las Vegas and 4:30-6:30 pdt is 7:30-9:30 est.

Trailer for Burn kicked off what Patton Oswalt called the best horror package, but those in attendance said it was a rough cut... or a work in progress cut of it.
WB host for the presentation, Patton Oswalt, stressed this was “a very early look at the trailer with unfinished and rough shots, and the filmmakers added an “extra disturbing” too it.”

Article from Yahoo has spoilers in the title too.

Yawn. Why do these sites keep posting news we already know?

If this franchise knocks it out of the park twice in a row it'll be interesting.

One thing that I don't believe there's any info on yet is who's gonna score the new movies. I'm a massive fan of the Evil Dead soundtracks (with Rise being the only one I didn't like) so I'm really curious about this.

It makes sense that there's no word about it for Wrath, but if Burn is supposed to hit cinemas in July, I think they should probably already be working on the score for it by now.

Two Reddit users who have been confirmed to have attended the earlier test screenings said that unless there was a seriously major reshoot in the past month since their viewings, the line about there being a "town of Deadites" is completely bogus. People are saying someone along the line someone mixed it up with another trailer (since no phones are allowed and you can't retrieve them until the end of the presentation), or AI tacked it on some website/social media post and it spread from there. It is very much a small cast with one isolated setting.

They must have zero money for marketing and are hoping for word of mouth.
Rise didn't really have extravagant marketing now that I'm thinking about it. A lot of their marketing was just viral moments ("Mommy's with the maggots now" and Bruce telling off that heckler) and a crap-ton of interviews.

It's not unusual for low budget horror movies to this. I mean Weapons had one or two trailers and the rest was built on the mystery of the premise and the eventual word of mouth.

I'm so immune to the hype at this point, I remember when it was a huge deal that the cheese grater was happening and then it ended up being one moment in Rise.

The Candle wax bit is just reminding me of the swallowing broken glass bit from Rise.

Variety and Deadline have given detailed overviews of the trailer. Posting since they're far more reliable than randos on Xitter or Reddit.
The trailer starts ominously with a mother unloading a dishwasher conspicuously full of sharp silverware, but she’s interrupted by a knock at the door. She opens it to reveal an undead corpse with chopped-off fingers and a car headrest through her skull, which she pulls out and drops on the floor before unleashing terror on the family. A flashback then shows a gnarly car accident and a door slamming shut on a girl’s fingers, severing them. Back in the family’s house, the walking corpse shoves a boy onto the dishwasher, impaling him full of cutlery. She jumps on his chest, pushing the silverware even deeper into his flesh.
Two direct quotes are “My sweet boy, I would give anything for us to be together again." And a sarcastic, “Cheers to your perfect family.”

I'm a little nervous about the "family coming together" line... especially after how things went down in Rise. Also...
the dishwasher kill is ripped straight out of the Chucky TV show.
