Evil Dead Burn | Official Thread

If the new movie BURN is desperate to connect itself to RISE then they have already made a massive mistake.
Its absolutely Criminal that Mia has been all but forgotten. She was more bad ass and believable than the moron family in RISE.
Im more intrigued to know what happened to Mia. How ahe coped with the trauma and her loss. She defeated her own demons and deserves more credit.

I really wanted to see an original Evil Dead story with BURN but if there going to just give us a continuation of RISE then just called it EVIL DEAD RISE 2.
I need more information before going out of my way to pay nearly £50 for a night at cinema (Including all expenses)
No pun intended but , Ive Been BURNed before.

Just a well written horror would be nice.
I think that Rise is a pretty well written horror movie, actually. It's all about the horror of being a mother. Beth finds out she's pregnant and is terrifyed of becoming a mother, not only because she's afraid of becoming as bad of a mother as her own was. So she visits her sister for advice and support, only to watch her turn into a monster (the scene of her turning into Deadite also mirrors the potentially disturbing aspects of woman's body changing during pregnancy and childbirth). So now she has to protect these kids against their own mother (generational trauma and so on), while also overcoming her own anxiety of taking care of a child and taking this kind of responsibility.

I'm not saying you have to like all of these themes, but they are there. And so I think it's kinda disingenuous to suggest that Rise is just some kind of hollow cash grab or that Beth is just a "cool aunt trope".

Just in general . I think the Buzz for the Original movie in the UK was massive due to the Video Nasty labels at the time. The Palace Picture situation was apparently abit of a mess but you do have a point, I think the Stephen King endorsement helped the film more than anything else.
All interesting stuff but we need to keep this thread's topic to Evil Dead Burn instead please mate. If you want we can chat about UK stuff in a new thread or via pm then I'll chat until the cows come home. :)

I really really want to agree Because of Pablo in ur Avi. But I can't.
The mums kids were all Insufferable. I think id be having 3 baths a day too just to get away from them.

I dont remember much but its pretty bad that ive watched the other films many hundreds of times and yet the only time I saw Rise was in the cinema and never again. Both of her eldest kids looked like they had Gender issues I just could not care less about Rise.
Pondering to the softy audience who wince at a cheese grater .
Same moronic people on YouTube commenting on the EVIL DEAD BURN trailer that the dishwasher scene is there "Nightmare Come True" when most of these idiots probably never used a Dishwasher. Probably born in 2005. This is who EVIL DEAD is for . We was looking to get Ash Vs Evil Dead that was the the end of the True saga for me.
At this point , Disney might aswell step in then everyone will be happy .

I liked the Teaser for Burn But I Dont think I like The Trailers. I think they have shown Far too much. That little 1 minute snippet was enough to get in the seat but now ive seen the trailer and more info has come out about its character connection to Rise, i may just sit this one out . I guess i just dont have money to BURN .

People want more of stuff, but not more of the SAME stuff (that's boring, pandering, fanservice) but not too much NEW stuff (that's too different, too modern, too liberal).

It's a really unwinnable situation trying to appeal to "fans." They think they're the reliable money, but the real money is in new eyes.

I do not envy film makers.

This is a casual observation about fandom in general, not intended to be in any way specific.
"I do not envy film makers" trust me, some of the most pretentious people on earth especially those in a privileged position. Look at the Guy who is making the New Resident Evil movie. What a total prat that guy is.

Get out there and create then, my man. Be the change!
Thank you for the encouragement. Who is to say I havent already ?
I have wrote 3 original scrips and a novel . I also submitted a script of an original Treatment of Friday The 13th.
Put it this way, if anyone is trying to get into the industry, MAKE SURE YOU GET AN AGENT ! and pay to preserve any original pieces of work you may create Or They Will Take It And Claim It Has There Own.

I wrote a 25 page treatment of Friday the 13th focusing on Pamela. The opening was about Jason Been a slow Developing kid not a deformed monster. It showcased an incident at a school swimming pool involving bullies and Jason's fear of Swimming but also touching on how he has support from family and other kids at school in an attempt to help him feel more like the other kids. But of course there is a jealous bully involved.
The whole premise was about his mother coping with loss and clinging on to supernatural hope after finding a mysterious piece with instructions on how to bring back the dead.
The Real antagonist was the Police Chief who was revealed to of been sexually assaulting the camp councillor who was supposed to be watching the kids ,so she was trying to get to jason at the time of his death. I never got to outline this as this is all revealed towards the end of the screenplay .

Paramount asked me repeatedly if I had an agent, I pushed the question to the side because I knew I didn't have one. Soon as they found out , they stopped been interested.

Now im wondering if they took my treatment as a year later , they announce a new friday the 13th movie based about everything I wrote .
I hear that the production has now been delayed or even shelved completely.

So for anyone else who is inspiring to be a writer, GET AN AGENT !

I am praying that its a Stand alone Film as promised by producers early on in production.
There is no mention of any "Jessica" character on IMDB so , Here's To Hope.

If that character is the cause of reason for Burn to Happen then there basically saying that We have to have watched Rise in order to fully understand it. Therefore it isnt a film that stands on its own merit.

It just might be better for all of us if they just be honest and admit its basically Evil Dead Rise 2.
Im hoping its not the case but sharp eye viewers are all but confirming this.
But if it is... then I would of expected more people to be a least abit disappointed.

On the website where one could sign up for test screening tickets actually said "It is recommended that you have seen Evil Dead Rise before attending this screening" or something along those lines.

I didn't know that. I was trying to avoid anyone talking about the test screenings due to it not been the finished product. But with that type of advice can only mean that they have decided where the story is continuing from.
Thats a Big shame. Was hoping for something original and fresh.

So what seems to be happening in Burn, at least according to the trailers…
Is that this house is somehow near the lake from Rise. They meet the lady from beginning/end of Rise, who then spreads the possession to this family.
But my problem with that is…
If that's the case, then why is there a new Necronomicon? Wouldn't it be kinda redundant since the Evil is already there through this girl? Because what feels to me is going on in the trailers is sort of a Pet Sematary situation, where this one guy died and his family is somehow trying to bring him back through the Necronomicon? But also if that's the case, then how the girl from Rise fits into all this (if it really is her even)? So it might be a mixture of both.

Not sure it's a very good point but we have to Remember that Nothing Has been confirmed yet. Maybe the Lake girl isn't the same girl from Rise. But yes would be a strange Coincidence but for now, better see if anymore details come out.
