Evil Dead Wrath | Official Thread

Back to Wrath... seems very strange that Early Screenings have already taken place despite a release date of 2028. Is this normal? Could the makers have doubts about the footage ? I've never heard of a screening happening so early unless they are Open to some Reshoots or adding additional scenes for pacing reasons.
Not to forward any spoilers but, has anyone given a full and proper take from the early screenings yet? (Without spoilers of course).

I think there's a lot of behind the scenes stuff with plotting this "Evil Dead Cinematic Universe" going forward, especially if the Wrath leaks are legit and they are setting up an Endgame-like film. It could also be Warner/New Line waiting to see what their new Skydance overlords are wanting to do (which I'm sure has some sort of trickle-down effect on the franchise's future). As for reshoots, there's most definitely going to be something since nearly everyone who has posted leaks has said the third act needs some tweaking, but it's not going to take a full year for that.

Like I just said, everyone said first and second acts were strong, and things went weak in the third act. Tonally more like 1 and 2 than any of the modern films have been.

This Skydance situation is disturbing. I remember when they bought there way into paramount by purchasing the rights to Terminator from James Cameron. Now they have total control of most of Hollywood within 7 short years (and the less said about What they did to the terminator franchise, the better ).
I don't think I've watched any of the Disney/marvel movies. Haven't watched a marvel movie since Toby Maguire was spider-man. But I am obviously understand what people mean by " endgame" . I just don't think Evil Dead is the right franchise to pull of that plot direction. But hearing the feedback from the early screenings does fill me with a bit more hope than I had for burn. We have along time to wait till it's release so I guess all we can do now is wait for something official.

Jane Levy attended a screening of 2013 and teased potential return of Mia:

I think maybe she is feeding the fanboys so little. Evil Dead 2013 is kind of it's own thing. Like an alternate dimension where Ash never went to some run down old cabin High in the mountains of the Tennessee Boarder.
Also , it's not the same Cabin . May not even be in the same woodland area.
Plus I've never been able to put my finger on exactly what year the film takes place in (No iphones or laptops etc) .
I think , maybe the Lovely Jane Levy is just adding a bit of hype to herself as of right now , she is on a bit of promotion with 2 new films coming out , one of which looks really conceptually interesting.

But you never know. Especially with the Evil Dead franchise.

In the years following the film's release, there has been heavy debate over the film's placement into the greater ''Evil Dead'' mythology, and whether or not it is a sequel or remake of the 1981 film. In a 2013 interview with SciFiNow, Fede Álvarez stated that his film was "more within the timeline of The Evil Dead. The second and third movies are kind of just one story put together in two parts, but this story could have happened 30 years after the events of the first film. Everybody died, the car was left there and somebody bought the property up cheap. The book is still around; some say the book was burned in the first movie – it was thrown into the fire, but you never see it being consumed.”[9] Álvarez reiterated this claim in 2018 in response to a fan question on Twitter: "It continues the first one. The coincidences on events between the first film and mine are not coincidences, but more like dark fate created by the evil book. (Ash car is still there rusting away)."[10]

There have been so many continuity errors and idiosyncrasies in this franchise, even going back to the end of the first/beginning of the second. Yet, in my opinion, Evil Dead is still the most consistent and high-quality horror property out there, by far. So give me more Evil Dead and make it as entertaining as possible, however that has to happen. Mia coming back would make whatever movie she appears in the instant box office favorite of the franchise.
