Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

This is not to be confused with those fake unofficial threads you might find elsewhere, hehehe. I have had faith in the remake for a while because of the fact that the original crew is behind it. Unlike most of these shitty ones out there now... And after watching the panel from NYCC I think I just had a massive orgasm. The wait for the trailer, let alone the movie will be unbearable.

I must be the only one that is disappointed and am not liking it. I do read everything and keep myself 100% informed, I'm not just being a bitter fan.

The acting in the first one was amature. I have to say the only actor I don't like so far is the guy who plays Scotty's character. His hipster beard rubs me the wrong way. I hope he's one of the first to go.

Here's another mirror of the bootleg trailer:

Juicy ....

I wasn't a fan of the shaggy doo looking guy either Kain but who knows .. hopefully he fits in with it all?

****** SPOILERS *******

looked like 'the classic' she was meant to be sitting on in the woods ..

Just about caught a glimpse of the cover of the new BOTD ... looks good .. I hope Tom Sullivan was asked to do that, even if there are a million other people that could have been asked to make one.

Liked the fact that they went with the original's incantations both verbaly and seemingly also visualy with a play on Cheryl's hand freakout sketch pad scene from the original.

Liked the shaky cam cabin aproach shots.

Liked the dark haired guy with the chainsaw and the blue shirt ... I doubt he'll survive though.

Like the new injoke that the initials of all the new character's first name are an anagram of DEMON  8)

The acting seems abit amature, it is gory but I get the feeling alot of Evil Dead fans wont like this.

That didn't take long at all. No matter what people are going to find something not to like about this... which is a shame. I think it was turned out pretty well, and the fact that it is "amateurish" is more exciting. I like it a lot.

Now I think about it, this footage reminds me a lot of Cabin Fever in tone .. I won't hold that against it though yet *fingers crossed it isn't just a Cabin Fever clone*...

Wonder what will happen to the black dog? .... they've taken a dog to the cabin! ... no one's mentioned the dog yet ! ..... EVIL DOG  ;D

Alvarez says on his twitter page that the Spanish composer Roque Banos has done the score for this (nope, me neither) .. some of his stuff with a suitable forest lane type picture :

I see Sam has kept it in pristine condition haha, also is Bruce actually confirmed for a cameo?

HaHa ... thought it was the classic .. thanks for the screen grab  ;)

... any chance you could screen grab the cover of the BOTD?. I tried the pause but wasn't quick enough. All I could make out was that the mouth on it was on the bottom right and sort of diagonal stich looking ...

... hope the black labrador gets possesed ...

I really hope not. And if they did, that would be very dumb
To be honest, when I saw that scene come up, I was taken out of the trailer completely; it actually made me more skeptical than before. It would ruin it for me if that character attaches something to her arm. That's Ash's territory. Nobody else should do that. These are completely five new characters that should have no relation to the original characters.
Other than that, the trailer does look pretty interesting and promising to be gory and disturbing.

I thought for sure they would at least pull a Darkman, or something. The word from NYCC is there will not be a cameo. At least we get the classic.

A Bruce cameo would have made this a definite cinema trip for me, but as it stands I'm not too sure about seeing it, the deadites look too Exorcist/Pazuzu in style for me and yeah its gory there is no denying that but I can't get over the fact that remake fever has hit the Evil Dead.

When the trailer is released in HD I will make my mind up.  :-X

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

I'm not realy bothered if I watch it and it's shit because the original will always exist anyway .. I can understand why Star Wars diehard fans are so pissed off with Lucas though ... imagine if Raimi had instead instructed Alvarez to re-tweek and CGI up the original and then only make that version available to buy nowadays. I don't think i'd forgive him (even if I still have all my originals copies) ..

.. and I think I might be alone on this board by saying that I've always prefered the wimpy character of Ash from pt1 to the later charisma Bruce Campbell's heroic Ash of the other two, because pt1's Ash was vulnerable .. you could emerse yourself in the fear he was going through which made it more of a horrifying experience to watch .... that's what I'm hoping for in this new one, no celebrity to root for but the story itself as the star ..

That and tits ..... (I j0ke)

This... and a little bit of that. I'm not a fan of remakes, but have faith in the crew. No matter what happens here I will always be a fan of the original trilogy. Plus this is a good enough reason to get out of the house and into a theater. I have to planned trips in the next coming months.

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

...Actually, Bruce's answer from NYCC was very evasive:
I hear you turned down a cameo in the movie.
"Nobody said 'yes' or 'no' to anything, so that’s false. We discussed it as filmmakers: Would it be worth it? Should we do it? But the tone of the movie is dead serious. It’s not jokey enough. This not a funny movie. If there’s laughter, it’s nervous laughter. There will not be ha-ha laughter. None. It’s a full-on old-school horror movie with make-up effects."

When asked earlier in the year if Ash, or at least Bruce would be making a cameo, he was also cagey and tight-lipped, but not dismissive...
I’m not at liberty to discuss that. But the thing is we want it to be a standalone movie. You’re going to have some references [to the original] in there and there’s going to be things the fans will enjoy as far as familiar aspects, but it’s a whole new ball game.”

Moreover, back in July last year, Fede Alvarez flat-out stated that Bruce would be in the flick. A lot can change over the course of the year, but still...
"The only recognizable face will be that of Bruce Campbell, and he will be in a cameo toward the end of the film."

...So my guess would be that yeah, Bruce does make some form of covert appearence in the film, for whatever it's worth. I have my theories about that actually, but I'll save those for another time.

Oh, and about that Necronomicon...looking closely at that trailer, this iteration doesn't seem to have a face at all....
