Now this is just a wild theory I have.  That car definitely is made to look like it's been abandoned in the woods for a good amount of years..  That makes me wonder about the plot.  Could this movie be a remake? Or in essence, could it be an actual sequel as well.  It make you wonder if it takes place after the events of the original evil dead movie since the car appears to have been abandoned there for a very long time. In the first one it just ends off with Ash getting attacked by the evil.  Evil Dead 2 was more like a reboot in a way. Now this leaves the possibility of a surprise Bruce Campbell cameo.  Obviously he's going to deny it because he'll want it to be a surprise. If the story takes place after the events of the original movie, it leaves plenty of room for a cameo.  It makes you wonder :D.

Would be fun if it was a mix of Johnny Starquest and Names Ash Housewares pontifications from page 2 of this thread:

Hey Hellbilly1965, if the film turns out good, looking forward to seeing one of your garage kits of it  ;)

Evil Dead 2 is not a reboot its a direct sequel, the movie starts from when Ash is thrown through the trees by the evil force, the beginning was a recap of the events from the first film but they had to change it slightly and re-film it because they couldn't get the rights cleared to use footage from the first film. would be a nice touch if that's the case but I'm doubtful they would do that.

...Actually, Bruce's answer from NYCC was very evasive:
I hear you turned down a cameo in the movie.
"Nobody said 'yes' or 'no' to anything, so that’s false. We discussed it as filmmakers: Would it be worth it? Should we do it? But the tone of the movie is dead serious. It’s not jokey enough. This not a funny movie. If there’s laughter, it’s nervous laughter. There will not be ha-ha laughter. None. It’s a full-on old-school horror movie with make-up effects."

When asked earlier in the year if Ash, or at least Bruce would be making a cameo, he was also cagey and tight-lipped, but not dismissive...
I’m not at liberty to discuss that. But the thing is we want it to be a standalone movie. You’re going to have some references [to the original] in there and there’s going to be things the fans will enjoy as far as familiar aspects, but it’s a whole new ball game.”

Moreover, back in July last year, Fede Alvarez flat-out stated that Bruce would be in the flick. A lot can change over the course of the year, but still...
"The only recognizable face will be that of Bruce Campbell, and he will be in a cameo toward the end of the film."

...So my guess would be that yeah, Bruce does make some form of covert appearence in the film, for whatever it's worth. I have my theories about that actually, but I'll save those for another time.

Oh, and about that Necronomicon...looking closely at that trailer, this iteration doesn't seem to have a face at all....

There is a recent interview where Bruce stated that they thought about it, but decided to not do it. I'll post the link later, I'm watching a movie right now. But yeah, they were very secretive and evasive in the beginning.

So it begins with the release of the official trailer. I'm excited if not a little anxious to see what happens between now... and the release of the movie as well.

I took a bunch of screen caps frame by frame in HD as best as I could. i'll post them later on today. Have to say for us hardcore fans of the first film the screen caps are REALLY revealing/spoilerish.

Also I think they may be trying to trick us in terms of who the new "Ash" is. It almost seems like the essence of Ash is split into the two characters: the lead female AND the lead male. Since marketing promotes Jane Levy's Mia as the focus of  the story but she appears to be the main one possessed for most of the film. Shilo Fernandez's character David visually bares the most resemblance to Ash with a blue jean shirt and in the trailer is seen looking at the broken bridge (which this time around is not just broken bot engulfed in high water) and wielding the chainsaw and the "boomstick".

Re: [Official Thread] The Evil Dead Remake

Thanks for the link ..and there's my first look at the new BOTD cover! ... no actual face this time but the stitching is subtle and creates a sort of face pattern ..

Who's the two old men, woman and kid? .. a referance to the hillbillys in Sam's ED2?

Is one of them this listed Harold from Evil Dead?:

http://johnsonlaird.com/assets/documents/1175/1175_actor_biography.pdf

.. and is that labrador going to just ominously disapear in a JAWS tension building type 'where's our dog gone?' way?.

This remake looks like it's got other levels going on in the story.

On the forum bluray.com, two members said they have read the script of the remake, and they explained that the very first scene deal with:

SPOILER AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A girl is being chased by some rednecks through the woods. They catch her and burn her alive. It turns out she was possessed by an evil spirit. // She gets killed in the cellar of the cabin.

Looks obvious from the trailer that Mia isn't the lead at all as she is a Deadite in the trailer and David is basically Ash, Dressed the same and using the chainsaw, be interesting to see how it all plays out I just hope they haven't used too much Evil Dead 2 in there.

Yeah, I suppose he's not a million miles away from looking like 1980 Ash Sean ..

Maybe Fede has pulled a double bluff on the fans  ;) ...

BTW, anyone joining this thread late that's worried about if this guy can direct well enough to have a stab at this remake, I'm re-assured by his early stuff, mainly El Cojundo and Panic Attack .. enjoy!:
