Well, Michael J Basset retweeted it so I guess it's official?

I'm just gonna shrug at this point. Usually Bruce is the first person to brag about this stuff, but he and the official Twitter are retweeting stuff for tomorrow's episode and Fanart like it's an ordinary day. Bassett is a supervising producer at this point, right? Or did he make co-executive this season?

The renewal news has stopped at the A.V. Club, and no other major sites are reporting it. I think everyone's waiting for something credible beyond inside sources (EW, TVBytheNumbers for instance). But IDEK anymore, Starz usually does press releases when this happens, as they did when Outlander and Power and Black Sails and even TGE all pulled renewals over the past two years.

I imagine we'll get something official on Monday but I don't mind sitting on my hands 'til then before giving my kudos to everyone.

I wonder who the familiar Deadite is going to end up being?  Cheryl?  I'd rather not see him kill Cheryl again TBH.

Also if Baal doesn't show up til the fifth episode MAN is the official Tumblr awful at keeping spoilers under wraps.

Hope not. That would not only be disappointing, but also a head-scratcher. If Cheryl can come back as a Deadite AGAIN, then why not others?

Annie maybe? She never came back as a Deadite. Maybe someone we've never seen before, but someone familiar to Ash personally? His mother?

THEORY

I think we seem to be forgetting that BAAL is a very powerful demon and one of the seven princes of hell itself, and we should take into account the word "Familiar", BAAL seems to wanna break ash judging from the "THIS SEASON" promo, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit if baal creates a deadite in the form of Cheryl and let's it loose on the gang. I think bruce mentioned somewhere that this season was gonna feature a lot of psychological warfare. So i have a good feeling that whoever this "Familiar" deadite is, it's gonna be one that was made with the intent of destroying ash mentally.

Annie's a good theory!

I'm pretty sure it won't be his mom, since Bruce keeps begging Lynda Carter to play his mom on the show on Twitter.Which could be Bruce in classic red herring form.

@Joe

If Baal really wants to screw with his mind, he could always do that - but with Linda?

Maybe it's Linda?

I don't want to sound all cynical after how good the last episode was, but I'm really not looking forward to this. Two thirds of this will be Ash getting drunk and high with Ted Raimi and measuring dicks with his father and the last act will hopefully be some decent sequence with Ash vs the possessed Delta. The good news is however that after having the expectations so low, this episode can hopefully only pleasantly surprise me.

Seem we're heading toward a more light episode next week...Just like season one with the book store.   I expect a 30 minutes of Ash trying to get his car back.  ;)

Exactly the same impression I got. Hopefully there's more to it than that. This episode seems to focus solely on stuff I'm not enjoying about the show and it's looking like a very early filler episode. If it is, it will be very poorly placed in the season too, as the last episode managed to build a nice momentum in the narrative. If they're already slowing things down and stalling it will be very disappointing and kind of a mistake. But hey, last episode was actually a surprise for me. I didn't expect much from it based on the previews, but it was actually better than I thought it would be. So let's see how this plays out.

The Possessed car episode is after this one, this episode is defiantly going to be a filler episode and probably mostly about them trying to lure the thieves in but i think towards the end of this episode, the main point of plan is probably going to get lost in the shuffle due to the excessive drinking of pink f*ck and everything is probably going to go all to hell by the end of it ,
Judging from the next episode description, it looks like ruby and kelly are gonna split from the party and the others to go track down her children next episode and leaving ash, chet and pablo to deal with the possessed delta.
then they'll likely tease the possessed delta right at the end with a cliffhanger like they did with the mourge with the teenager stealing the car.

But this is just me guessing, but i can't wait to see that bathroom fight scene it looks like it's going to be pretty intense judging from the small previews we've gotten from it.

A little side note I just realised. One of my complaints of the first season was how many of the stuff takes place during daytime. First of all, that doesn't make sense since we know from ED2 that the Evil is weak during day and is actually running from daylight, and second of all it dulls the atmosphere of multiple episodes (for example how much better could the Brujo two-parter or the diner episode have been if they took place at night)?

However in the current season, the production team either finally realised this, or a bigger budget allowed them to shoot more at night. Because if I don't count the travelling montage to Elk Grove, in the only scene that's during day (Ash visits his father for the first time) it's cloudy and raining. Everything else from the first two episodes (and the trailer suggest that the third one hopefully too) is set at night and interier scenes are purposefully dark. And that helps build the atmosphere of this show like charm.

My guess is

Most of the episode focuses on the rager, with the big plotline development being Brock finally seeing his son in action when he rescues him from his bathroom bj turned nightmarish.

I imagine they might also throw in that scene of the Charger getting posessed at the end, too.

And the ratings news is tough all over.  The show fell off to 65th place on Sunday, pulling a 0.18 and 333k people.

Also it failed to make the top twenty five rankings for +3s for the season premiere.

Still no word from any official source fully confirming the renewal.  Here is where Starz puts all of its press releases BTW.

We should also take into account that the 2nd debate basically took a good chunk of viewers from just about every show on that list so I expected this to happen so this news isn't really shocking in the slightest bit. But like I said again last week we could be doing blunt talk numbers but we aren't.

Yeah, ratings are down across the board including for the NFL which is usually a ratings juggernaut... but it seems like even the ratings for the debate took a massive dump going from 84 million to 66 million viewers for round two. So I'm not sure what to think of anything anymore.

At any rate, Starz just put out a new clip of would you rather.

Also AvED wasn't in direct competition with the debate (it ended a half hour before it started) and Sunday Night Football actually beat the debates in the ratings.  Though if you add up its ratings across the networks I suppose it beats SNF in cumes (29 Million viewers).

Blunt talk did so badly it isn't even in the top 100.   At this point you could make the statement that AvED is being dragged down by it.

ETA:
the kids are adorable.  This is no spoiler, but they are both soooo dead.

At least Lacey seems likable at first crack.

I feel bad for Sir Patrick Stewart who I like a lot, but Blunt Talk has gone nowhere from the start. He needs to do more work with Ian McKellen, and I could just imagine how wonderful it would be like to have Gandalf and Professor Xavier as buddies in a kick ass tv show packaged along with Ash vs Evil Dead.

I love his work too - it started out pretty decently ratings-wise but it's tanked big time at this point.  I hope he finds something more worthy of his talents.

Sir Ian's just been luckier - Vicious was a fun vehicle for him and it did well enough on the UK to be imported onto PBS this fall.
