Totally agree...except it will be difficult to continue the story with the original ending. It's even impossible to start from the S-mart ending since Bruce is older now. So I guess they must start with something similar but fresh.

The best way to bring back the apocalyptic ending is to start right from there. It could start with a narrative that explain how the world got devastated by desdites. A bit like the opening of Evil Dead 2 but more in the style of Mad Max 2.

I don't think Bruce's age would be a problem for a continuation of the apocalyptic ending. Maybe Ash was stuck in the wasteland for decades trying to find a way back to his time, slowly becoming some sort of post-apocalyptic legend or a king to a large settlement of people. The story could even be about Ash disappearing in the wasteland for decades and the first act of the movie could be about a new set of characters looking for the "prophesied one" and the "metal-hand hero" of legend that could fix the world. And once they find him... It's Ash. Battle weary and a little crazy. Older, but not necessarily wiser. And he wants nothing to do with their problems. Hell, they could do it without even mentioning AvED at all and it would still work as a simultaneous continuation of BOTH the original AoD ending and the show. Maybe the apocalypse could have happened between the show and this hypothetical 4th movie.

But yeah, I know... Wishful thinking. Never gonna happen.

I knew ash vs evil dead was not gonna be like the films in anyway,I've long since dropped the notion of the show being like the glory days of this franchise since the season 1 finale because really, it's not comparable in anyway and i'm glad i dropped that notion right before s2 came on, it's helped my enjoyment of the show so much better and has helped deal with the blows of it's downfalls.

IMO, it's been a very fun ride from start to finish, it's a entertaining show that nails the aesthetic/core of evil dead for the most part and it's easy to watch just like the films, it has a cast that actually has good chemistry together both on screen and off screen (i could probably watch the cast banter with each other all day.). Despite the show's flaws and shortcomings, i still love it and i can't wait to see how they finish it off this season which imo they seem to actually have a good direction/goal of where they are going end it off this season then they did with Craig.

Plus i've gotta mention the practical effects/sets and props that the kiwi crew pull off each year is just amazing if there is anything that will be remembered the most from this show is the tremendous effort that crew put into each episode, their greatest achievement being the cabin re-creation, that was probably their magnum opus in term's of set design and props. We may have not gotten the best writers on this show, but we can at least say they got the best damn crew to pull off everything. In my opinion those guys are the true heart and soul of this show in essence they are this show's sam raimi. Those guys are the main thing that keep me coming back for more along with the cast and some of the directors they got.

If there is another film to be made (Highly unlikely), i really hope they go back to new zealand and bring this shows effects/set crew on board for a feature length film with sam, they've earned their evil dead stripes IMO.

@DyD

They are going to have to continue where the show leaves off with the s3 finale if they do take the chance and do another film because it is canon to the creators timeline and right now we know it's gonna be a open book ending for the show.

Bruce mentioned that ash has fought the evil in the past, present and goes on to say that his gonna have to face it in the future.

Surprised this scene hasn't been talked about from the teaser, ash is wearing futuristic hibernation gear in that screencap, plus his hand is back. But, my own personal theory is that it's a realistic prosthetic robot hand.

1. Starz partners with Netflix making a deal similar to CBS/Netflix with Star Trek: Discovery. Maybe Netflix could cover a part of the development cost in exchange for international streaming rights.
2. Netflix picks up Ash VS Evil Dead for a season 4.

This is a possibility; it will come down to the budget and how well seasons one and two did on Netflix.

Turns out a LOT of people noticed it, almost immediately.

I will never not find the fact that EVERYONE noticed how bad the paint job on the hand was immediately hilarious.

Also DyD is right....

"anyways" is not a word.

Honestly, there's a way to do an AOD sequel that follows him from the S-Mart ending. But it'd need much, much better scripting. And Sam. I think a lot of the problems AvED seems to have seems to stem from his lack of involvement. I could see them going for TV movie/direct to streaming kind of situation later on.

@Joe - that is a damned good catch!

They've mentioned a couple of times in interviews that happens, he fulfills his destiny and going to the future is part of it. I'm here for it.

More spoilers are in this Den of Geek interview!

Another AoD is incredibly unlikely plus we have to remember AoD regardless of opinion is the third film in the trilogy not a standalone film, i'd rather they just stay the course and continue where the show leaves off instead of going backwards.

Has sam done or directed anything major since his directed the first episode? i know he helped direct a short for the make a film foundation but for the most part we've seen projects announced for him but haven't come out yet.

He only voiced a character in the live action version of the Jungle Book. He's had a lot of projects pop up and then not bloom to fruition.

Yes, I agree it could never be comparable to the glory days of the franchise. I never expected it to be. But it could've still been good, or at the very least, decent. I know you enjoy the show and I'm sincerely very happy for you, but to most of us around here, the show isn't up to snuff even when you forget about the films and judge it by itself. People not enjoying the show and being highly critical of it has very little to do with expecting it to be on par with the films.

Well, I don't have much to say in reply to that other than I couldn't disagree more.

On that I can agree. The technical crew and production designers have truly been doing a wonderful job. Their work has certainly been a big silver lining to this whole thing.

Well, I'll be damned, that IS a cool, inventive way to end it. Took them long enough to try something different for a change, something that actually changes the status quo. That's actually a very "Evil Dead" thing to do, probably the most "Evil Dead" thing they did so far. With that giant demon and that ending, it seems the show might at least be leaving on a high note. Depending on the execution, that ending could actually put a smile on my face. Too bad it still doesn't make me the least bit interested in seeing where it goes from there. At least not with these characters, this creative team and carrying the rest of the show as baggage.

Just got done watching the new episode.

And i think that my main issue with the show is still there...why in the bloody hell does it seem like every single season starts wiht Ash being THE SAME ASH he was from the freaking Pilot episode!

Are they just rubbing in the fact that there has been close to 0 development to the character for 3 seasons now?

Here's the this season on ash vs evil dead video *MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD, DON'T WATCH IF YOU DON'T WANNA BE SPOILED*

Season Preview *Major spoilers ahead*

YES !
I'm happy were going to be getting Brock back again, the scenes with him and ash look like they are going to be great. And it looks like we are going to get a scene with him and brandy before ash interrupts

And Deadite pablo, good lord. He looks great ! Ray is gonna kill it.

@Panos

It's a pattern they do with the current season, they always dial the development he previously had back to 0 for the start of each season because he thinks it's over with and he can go back to his old ways before they slowly develop him over the course of the season. that's how the previous showrunner Craig did it, now i don't know how mark will change it for this season but he seems to be more on the right footing with the brandy plot and ash being closer to his teammates then before, we'll likely see him more fleshed out quicker over the course of this season then craig previously provided. Hang in there with it were only 1 episode in.

Ok that new trailer looks fantastic. A lot of really cool stuff happening in there and great Deadite effects and such. Pretty excited for all of it.

Let me be kind enough to point out that you sound a little bit arrogant. Might be helpful.

Alright kids, no more fighting, go to your corners and settle down. Panos, this is your first minor warning, no more fighting with other members on this board.

Duke you've been warned several times to knock it off, and tone down the aggressive tone with your posts, you haven't listened nor learned your lesson from previous events. Consider yourself banished to the pit.

You aren't discussing evil dead, you keep getting into fights with the other members and a mod with a snarky/arrogant attitude, and i'm not gonna stand for it.

If you wanna come back under another name, sure give it a try. We'll happily show you the door once again.

Minor bit I found interesting from the Facebook Q&A

The fact that he didn't shoot down the idea of Dalton being Ash's Great-Great-Great-Etc Grandson through Sheila.
