I find it interesting that AVED has 1,175,000 Facebook likes yet American Gods only has 400,000. I’m fully prepared at this point to lose the show in 4 more episodes. I will definitely be upset though

A few years ago, the AVED page merged with other Evil dead Facebook pages. This explain why it has 1,175,000 Facebook likes.

I wonder if they will announce anything regarding Ash VS Evil Dead there. Probably wishful thinking at this point. Bruce did say we would have a good idea of the show was dead or not by mid-March and now it's April and still not a peep...

They're waiting until the season is over. My guess is that they're going to cancel it and don't want to affect whatever little viewers are still tuning in.

I have my suspicions that they will indeed wait until after the season is over to make any big announcement although Josh Becker on his site went on a rant calling Sam and others assholes while mentioning that the show was canceled. The thing is I'm not sure if Josh is just tired of answering more Evil Dead related questions than those related to his own work, or if Bruce already told him something... but some of the comments he made were pretty ridiculous for an old group of friends. Like saying Sam was fired off his own show for being a dick.

I work in the web industry and know for a fact that social media is not a very good or accurate metric of how many people actually watch a show or like something IRL.

Well I would assume there is a certain drop-off but the ratings vs facebook likes is 1 to 6.

Where can I read this?

Huh, well this is a interesting read. The tone of his answers though come off as a very aggressive and spiteful man so i don't know if what all his saying is the truth.

EDIT
this guy has quite the mouth on him.

Ok, so i went back all the way to 2016 and josh wasn't harping on the show as badly nor making any toxic comment's either. so what the hell happened in 2017-18 that made him finally explode ?

EDIT

Yeah, i'm drawing the conclusion at this point that Josh is just a extremely spiteful indie filmmaker and it's really a sad thing to see so much anger/biterness enclosed on just one page. I don't know if any of the stories/answers are actually true and i could care less if it is true because that's between them and them alone. But overall going through this whole thing was just a miserable experience overall.

Adding on to what Kain said above, the show really did have a reach of a million viewers at one point. The first trailer, before it was taken down, had a million viewers; the pilot episode adjusted up to a million in the +5s. The problem is they immediately began to leak away after that first episode, and they utterly hemorrhaged viewers in season 2. So many of those likes are legacy likes from the first season as well.

Check out the Q&A section to see what everyone's talking about; wow those are some quantum levels of salt and some major revelations if they're true. But he's wrong about Oz not making money; from what I remember it was pretty huge BO wise? I know Oz fans who utterly hated the movie though. If he's right about the writing that'd explain AvED's shortcomings.

ETA: yep, he's wrong, the movie doubled it's budget at the BO, which is really the only thing a studio wants. I don't know, this is a lot of salt and a lot of anger and a lot of past grievance on display. His webmaster should pull him back because it's like watching the dude moon the whole internet. It's an interesting combo of intense bitterness and anger and perhaps a grain of truth but it's so bitter it's hard to see the message for the trees so to speak. Saying "your own (dead btw) mom thought you were an asshole" is very, very yikes and tbh TMI.

I'm guessing whatever took out Craig must've also embittered him, and judging from his "Bruce and I are gonna go out into the woods and make awesome indy films so FUCK YOU SAM" tone of the messages, possibly Bruce as well. Sam only directing the pilot and Craig being brought on and then fired just sets up and interesting as hell picture. I have no idea what's true and what's not.

I'm not gonna bother with the backstage/old drama at this point because that's between them to sort out and i ain't gonna stuff my nose into that toxic cesspool, if the show's done, it's done.

My two cents on him talking for bruce : If bruce really wants to let us know how he feels, then he should be the one to do it, not josh on some webmaster page. But bruce ain't going to do that, and i honestly feel bad for bruce cause i don't know if josh ain't putting words into his mouth.

Precisely, and you kinda wish that Josh would've thought first, because if this info circulates more it'll get back to Bruce and he'll have to address it.

I always thought Josh was honest to a fault when responding to comments in the past, but I have seen him say worse when recently asked about some of the things in Alien Apocalypse while also threatening to skull fuck someone who called him out. I also remember asking Josh before Lucy officially joined the cast (in 2014) if he would be interested in directing a future episodes of AvED since he directed a ton of Xena episodes, and he told me he wouldn't do it no matter what... but when asked later on he told someone he certainly would consider it even though he didn't think he would ever be asked. So my guess is something happened around that time, and part of me wonders if he asked Bruce about it before being shot down by Rob and company. I mean as a self described maker of indie films you would think any opportunity to make money to support his other projects would be something he would jump at. However, it really does look like Josh has gone off the deep end in recent months.

I debated about whether I should even bring it up as someone who commented on his comment said something about Josh violating a non disclosure agreement, and if there isn't a legal one you would certainly think there would be one with friends. I guess the one thing saving Josh is not a lot of people would come across his comments unless they are fans of the original trilogy because I don't think his Evil Dead journal is even up on his own website anymore.

That's the thing that is worrying about this situation, it blowing up and bruce having to deal with this crap 24/7 at every convention/signing with questions and it possibly ruining/rifting current relationships all because josh wanted to flap his gums on the internet because he simply "didn't give a shit".

I seriously don't know what else to say on this subject except : what a mess.

@Nick el Ass I'm definitely glad you posted the link, because it adds to the situation. And you're exactly right - thankfully the mainstream media hasn't grabbed onto this (I can see Elm Street trying to mill content out of it, for instance)

Is there evidence that his bad opinion towards Sam is shared by any other member of the old gang?

A new website is claiming that they have learned that Starz has renewed Ash vs Evil Dead for a season 4...

https://renewcanceltv.com/ash-vs-evil-dead-renewed-for-season-4-by-starz/

They seem pretty confident in their message. Thoughts?

Seems much more legit than the rottentomatoes link. Maybe it's doing THAT well on Netflix? If that's the case, even with low ratings, they must see it as an investment. It isn't gathering them many viewers at all now but in the future it will. I guess that's kind of been Evil Dead in a nutshell? I will remain cautiously optimistic for now, but this is better news than seeing an article of it being cancelled.
