Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 General Discussion Thread

[MaidOfKandar]

That isn't gonna happen either, we might as well declare future projects for evil dead dead in the water at this point cause it's probably already being labeled as a underpeformer in starz and other's eye at this point, crowd funding would not work either (EX : Last Fan Standing). Bruce is getting up their in his age and likely want's to do other stuff with his career now at this point now having done 3 years worth of ED content, sam's off doing his own thing so his incredibly busy.

I'm still surprised the LFS kickstarter failed like it did.

He has mentioned other projects he wants to do; books, movies he wants to direct and star in.

[MaidOfKandar]

Yeah, starz really wanted to bury them this year and they've succeeded in doing so.

I had kind of a nagging feeling that they were sending it out to die between the long delay and the choice to shift timeslots; I think there might be multiple reasons for it. Bruce's tongue'll get loosened when things get cancelled, as it usually is.

I actually never saw it on Trending Topics at all, which is unusual. The Twitter side of things was slightly quieter than usual. Rousey being in WrestleMania is going to kill them (episode 8 is going live against it).

Next week's competition is going to be as tough; more TWD and the Oscars.

Pushing the show back while Starz was dealing with being bought out, and whatever else was going on as well as being quiet for so long was a huge mistake because a lot of shows return in March too. Starz is either their own worst enemy, or flat out incompetent when it comes to putting on tv shows.... and maybe they did say to hell with it if it fails we always have Lionsgate movies.

I Look forward to hearing Ash vs Evil Dead's theme in the Olympics like they did with The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.

Lionsgate has been known for being a incredibly cheap studio to work with so i'm gonna say they aren't gonna go to them if they even plan on doing another film. Plus i've heard through the grapevine there was arguments over the budget this season between rob and starz. Don't know if that's true or not but given how their current situation is, that could be the case, take it with a ton of salt though.

I just have a feeling they may get rid of all, but the best shows while streaming mainly their own movies before long. I mean if you can't make something work with actors like Bruce and Patrick Stewart you have issues.

The absolutely bizarre thing is that Starz otherwise does gangbuster ratings with its originals. Power is competitive with Shameless' numbers somewhere in the top twenty. Ditto Outlander and American Gods; they all adjust up into the millions in the plus fives or get that much live. Their miniseries do excellent numbers as well. I don't know how AvED didn't end up doing Spartacus-level numbers but it's something I might autopsy later. Maybe they thought this franchise's audience was bigger than it is, maybe they pitched the series at the wrong level and more than a few people agreed that this wasn't a version of Ash that felt like a proper outgrowth of the movies. I don't know.

Now I'm wondering if they cut them off at the knees, between that and the fight they had with Craig, the previous network-posted EP.

God, you just reminded me of what a disaster Blunt Talk was.

Hmmm I wonder if Kelly's blue and black hair is supposed to contrast Ruby's pink and black hair from last season

If Starz is prepared to cancel Ash vs Evil Dead I wonder if either of these two options are possible:

1. Starz partners with Netflix making a deal similar to CBS/Netflix with Star Trek: Discovery. Maybe Netflix could cover a part of the development cost in exchange for international streaming rights.
2. Netflix picks up Ash VS Evil Dead for a season 4.

Man I'm not ready for this show to get canceled.

I know how you feel man. With all it's faults I been glad to have ash back. And even though there maybe be nothing after this season I still have little hope for the movie idea to happen. Because I remember for years how Bruce said ash was never going to come back because of how bad army of darkness did in theaters, but look what happen we ended up with 3 seasons so I'm hoping for the best

I think they should end everything with season 3 and do something better with the franchise. I'm agree they should partners with Netflix BUT for another movie.

A movie would be better then nothing but I would personally prefer the show to keep going. I also believe that if a movie was made, it would likely just be more of Ash vs Evil Dead anyways sticking with the same characters and style.

I don't think anyone will be willing to pick this series up or do a movie. Unless Sam Raimi was maybe able to pull a few strings and get someone to help make more.

"anyways" is not a word.

you can really taste the angel dust.

I don't know if anyone already mentioned this, but I haven't seen it so let me say it: ash's right hand is clearly shown in this flashback sequence, so unless he got married in high school, this is a mistake.

Yes, it's been mentioned before. That's clearly supposed to be the wooden hand he had at the beginning of the first season. Bruce's hand is painted to look like wood. It's not a mistake, just an effect they tried and didn't really work. Bruce probably needed both of his hands free to be able to securely hold the actress and they didn't think anyone would notice, since that shot goes by so fast. Turns out a LOT of people noticed it, almost immediately.

"anyways" is not a word.

I'm not a mod, but I'm gonna jump in and say that kind of attitude is not appreciated around here, specially if you had nothing else to say in that post other than comment on someone's grammar and vocabulary. Also, you can edit your posts, so there's no need to post three times in a row. What you're doing there is kinda spamming the board and a little annoying. Let's try not to treat this place like it's an instant messaging app, please.

And by the way, according to Merriam-Webster, "anyways" is a word: https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/lets-talk-about-anyways

Doing a movie is a chance to make something unrelated to the series and different, which is the main idea. The series should end as another trilogy. I don't think the writers know what to do with this franchise. They have difficulty to do 10 episodes of 30 minutes without any filler. It's all of the same, they even press the reset button for Ruby at the end of Season 2. I prefer to get one good quality movie over a butchered series. I understand that you are satisfied with the series, unfortunately this is not my case.

[DyD]

I have absolutely zero interest in another movie if it follows AvED's storyline, characters and interpretation of Ash. The only movie I'd get excited about at this point is an ED4/AoD 2 that follows AoD's original apocalyptic ending and has Sam Raimi as writer AND director. If that's not possible, I sincerely think it's time to let it go. I certainly don't want something like AvED again, but in movie form.

Ash vs Evil Dead isn't quite what I wanted from the "Evil Dead" brand. I felt that the Sam Raimi pilot and bits in pieces of other episodes had a lot to like but I do agree that the show should have focused more on horror, mythology and overall writing instead of juvenille humor.

I would love a new Sam Raimi written and produced movie or trilogy like many of you.

I feel Ash vs Evil Dead is the last bit of this franchise and Bruce as Ash. Once this show is gone, I think the franchise will once again be forgotten about and Bruce is already up there in age so it can't be dusted off again 25 years later.

I enjoy the show and still feel like it's scratching that Evil Dead itch but I completely understand why others are not happy with the product. I guess I lowered my standards for this because I felt it was better then nothing at all... but I do agree with most of what you guys want from the franchise and I'm right there with all of you. I too would love some new Sam Raimi written/produced mivies. Especially if the show is destined to be canceled... I just don't think these movie(s) will ever happen sadly.

Totally agree...except it will be difficult to continue the story with the original ending. It's even impossible to start from the S-mart ending since Bruce is older now. So I guess they must start with something similar but fresh.

The best way to bring back the apocalyptic ending is to start right from there. It could start with a narrative that explain how the world got devastated by desdites. A bit like the opening of Evil Dead 2 but more in the style of Mad Max 2.

It could be after AoD or the sereies. No need to explain the link between the movie or the series....This is way after all this. The world have just fallen down.
