Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3 General Discussion Thread

If the case, it's not really a surprise and I'm ok with it. Another trilogy in this context is just enough. If they at least end this season on a high note, this could be a little bit forgivable.

If the show was extremely well done I would be very disappointed. But with so many flaws, I just think this will avoid further damage to the franchise. Sometime you need to know when to stop.

I understand some of you love the show as it is. No offense, this is just my opinion.

The only other place I could really see this working is Netflix anyway

They should have been with Netflix from the start as they likely had more pros than Starz did in hindsight.

Bruce said the news would be known by mid March which means it could drop any day now unless Starz decides to keep it close to the vest until after the season ends to keep the numbers from further nosediving. If AvED is going to go away let it go out on some kind of a high note for the amazing members of the cast and crew.

I feel like this season has been fantastic so far. just all around solid in my opinion. I don't want this to be the end but nothing I can do to change that. ;(

The +5 ratings are in, and are interesting. The show is generally adjusting up by 209k, which means it goes up to 300k per episode. That's still a series low for the show; that's how much it was getting for its lives last season. Either 300k or so people have shifted their watching to the ap, they've dropped it, or are waiting for it to show on Netflix.

And for those who track such things, the show and Bruce have gotten their semi-requisite at this point Saturn nominations.

Related to the conversation of cancellation, just gonna leave this here and you can judge for yourself by what bruce is hinting at but in my own personal opinion he paints the picture pretty well for the future of this show and his gotten the news already.

Getting off that hot topic, this q&a is pretty great and there's a lot of good nuggets from it to take away from. (yes, bruce does confirm he has seen that one particular parody.)

Yup this more or less confirms that Bruce was informed the show was canceled. Sigh... ;(

While it doesn’t sound good, I also wouldn’t be surprised at all
If it did get another season and Bruce is just being facetious. I also think it’s going to be cancelled but he’s definitely the type to enjoy dragging us through the mud one way or another

Yeah, his I know Something You Don't Know is super telling.

IDK at this point if they would've done better on Netflix. They'd have to compete for Gravitas with Stranger Things and the four or so other horror shows they have now. AvED would be a b-string responsibility for them.

It seems like the big thing Starz offered was openness in letting them tell the story without anyone butting in, and Nextflix would have offered more stability along with better advertising. I have a suspicion that the new people at Starz view AvED it as a lower priority.

Yeah, they seem to be swinging Starz in the direction of being a prestige network judging from what they've picked up.

That's interesting to me too, since Craig seems to have been a Network suit thrown into the project to tow whatever Starz' bottom line for the project was.

I really don’t think this will be the end of the franchise. This can’t be that expensive to make and it does have at least a good number of dedicated fans. Cut Lucy Lawless out and that’s a huge salary reduction. At any rate it has been a good run and I’m glad we were afforded these three seasons before the door was shut forever

Was it just the first two seasons they put on Netflix? Would have been nice if they'd put the third out weekly too even if it were a week or two behind Starz.

And made it available to the UK. I get Netflix but we don't get the ED series here. Not that I'm too fussed personally as I have the first two seasons on Blu-ray but from an exposure POV and bringing in new viewers that would have been nice.

I guess that wouldn't help the show be renewed however as they're primarily looking at US viewings on Starz.

I have been considering going the virtual network (I forget that correct term now, VPN?) route and subscribing to Starz so I could see Season 3 on their streaming option but I think that could get rather expensive. Separately the prices aren't too bad, but it all mounts up and im not sure what else I'd wish to watch on Starz.

Knowing my luck, I'd fork out and it just wouldn't work. Heh.

I'll likely get the third season on disk anyway, but that's a long wait. I confess I took a less legal route for season 2, although I had decided I'd get the DVD or Blu-ray when it came out even if I didn't like the series to pay my dues so to speak. Thankfully I did like it. Well, okay the ending was a bit too cheesy, and I wish they'd put more thought into the time travel stuff, but I found the show entertaining overall.

It's a route I'm reluctant to go down again though.
