[Official Thread] Evil Dead Rise

Yeah, really odd to include that on the image, since it very clearly isn't taken from the film... Probably just some cheap trolling to get people talking and theorizing. I mean, they also put the cheese grater in it as if it was an actual character, so the whole thing seems very tongue in cheek.

HOWEVER, as I've already mentioned before, I'd be totally in favor of having Bruce show up in the movie playing a completely new character not even similar to Ash in any way, shape or form. In fact, I'd actually prefer that than having him return as Ash. Hell, have him show up as this universe's version of Prof. Knowby or something like that. That'd be cool.

I swear that they're leaking huge plot point details ahead of time.
Collider just published a whole article about Staffanie after them trying to keep what she is secret for weeks.

New interview with Lee Cronin, mild spoilers, at The Wrap
Preview screening at the American Cinemathetique

Oh and Bruce said this. We are DEFINITELY in the middle of a new Evil Dead release cycle when he does this.

That is an incredible new poster.

ETA: a review's floating around out there that apparently has full spoilers for the ending and who (if anyone) survives, so be careful if you're google searching stuff. It's the MovieWeb review, and the spoilers are warned for before you get to them.

Gonna come back and comment on this later; Bloody Disgusting also has four more scenes.

All the sound cues in this new sound score are VERY OG The Evil Dead

The link for anyone who wants to purchase it, or look at the track listing is here https://waxworkrecords.com/products/evil-dead-rise... but between this and the new merch from https://cavitycolors.com/products/evil-dead-rise-t-shirt your wallet may hate you.

Listen to the entire soundtrack here.

Most things I've seen or read about this new movie are promising. Big exception are the few tracks of the soundtrack I've listened to so far. To be honest I did not have the time to listen to the whole soundtrack yet. But the stuff I already listened to sounds like generic horror ambience to me. Nothing compared to the music by Joseph LoDuca or Danny Elfman. Maybe I am wrong. Are there any tracks you guys like?

Good question, but the way these are coming out (slowly) I'm waiting to see Ellen and Kassie show up and maybe Sarah... but the true test is getting Embeth to join the ladies.
That's always my remark when these things happen; it's not a full reunion of even the Deaditeified main ladies without Embeth and Ellen!

Yeah, I even have to give Roque Banos credit for creating a livelier score for the remake. It's gloomy and percussive but it's not innovative, which is too bad. There's some stuff that harkens back to Evil Dead itself but nothing that pings my interest, oh well.

Those are gorgeous; Fright Rags' designs are disappointing me this time out, but these are beautiful.

I'm digging the very classic sound of those horns and strings, particularly on the first couple of tracks there, but I gotta agree that as far as actual composition goes, there's not much to hold on to. I'm happy that it sounds like a real orchestra and it's not just the usual digital droning horror movies get for a score nowadays, but it is still a bit too shapeless for my taste. It's certainly trying to sound like the scores to the Raimi trilogy, but I'm missing actual themes and memorable cues. This is a purely functional score. It's not *bad*, but it's kinda boring.
