Wow, I was blown away by this episode for a lot of reasons like thing the baby is growing up in which reminded me of Hope from Xena... and fans referred to her birth as the start of a rift which makes you wonder if the name came from that. Also we get straight into the battle between Ruby and Kelly without wasting any time, and what a battle it was because I kind of wish they just decided to let them go instead of giving us the whole Pop Tart thing. Granted a good Pop Tart like the brown sugar cinnamon ones are rather tasty while strawberry Pop Tarts are pure evil especially when they are warmed up. However, the whole Knights of Sumeria deal has been a big let down from Dalton to the newest members we have just met although Zoe (I think that is her name) is still around so there is still hope she goes all bad ass too. Then we get an Army of Darkness flash back which was cool as we get to see Ruby pull herself back together which looked great before she mentioned Kelly could have joined her which got a hard pass, heh. I have to admit that if this is the end for Kelly I will miss the f-bombs, but she got the biggest payoff of anyone in the show by biting it in an epic showdown. The one part I didn't get was Pablo's reaction to reading the writing on the wall which totally isn't a metaphor, but by saying he didn't know what came over him which seems strange coming from a dude who had passages from the book written on his skin for a while. Lastly we close out the episode with a merger with the three KoS members becoming one which was surprising, but man that head rip was done way better than when Lacy did it to to her dad. Pablo gets in a good shot in with the saw, and we get a newly possessed Kelly which will make it interesting to see how Kaya comes into her own skin with Danielle being cast as I think that might have been her voice in parts.

/Needless to say these last four episodes are going to be killer.

Kelly's death seemed repetitious of EVERY other good guy getting killed by the bad guy in every Hollywood fight: rather than just completely wasting the bad guy, be sure and stop to talk a while, to give the bad guy a chance to get up and kill you. Kelly had ruby down, all she had to do was bury the knife in her, and game over. but no, she had to talk talk talk. happens every time. so tired of that same old fight cliché.

knights of sumeria...what a joke THOSE clowns have been so far. I expect some super sweet ninja action and high tech weaponry for some major demon killing, since they've had nothing to do for centuries but hone themselves into the ultimate killing machines. instead we get a bunch of bozos who barely know what the hells going on, and one even gets whacked by a 75 year old hardware store owner. might as well send in the friggin boy scouts for all the good these jokers do. big disappointment.

They for sure as shit ain't their ancestors, that's for sure. Might as well just label these guys the "red shirts" from star trek.

She's probably gonna be super pissed if she get's back IF that even happens, but i don't think she's gonna continue that conquest of getting her revenge after all that, main theme for this season is family. I feel like, if she comes back she's gonna be more focused on protecting her current family more then anything then trying to go after her holy grail again. Plus they've already got pablo and kelly being a thing now, i highly doubt she's gonna go risking being egotistical/revenge fueled again and losing her second chance at living given to her by the same guy that saves her ass.

Plus the growth in character development has been pretty solid this season so let's see what happens.

This I hope, because at this point they've done a great job completely finishing off this section of her story and walling it up. I want to learn who Kelly is without her cocky anger getting in the way.

This is a huge problem I have with this storyline, and it also undoes all of the important shit Ash does in AOD (teaching an entire army to defend themselves; these kids are the direct descendants of the knights he fought with in AOD!). They should be 100 percent prepared for the might of the Nec and the shit it can do if they know anything about Ash's experience (WHICH THEY HAVE STUDIED AS A VOCATION), but they are not. Dalton is properly tough in that vein, but for heaven's sake, he should have lasted longer.

I think it's supposed to be his new Brujo powers at work, taking his connection to the next level. But it doesn't really make a ton of sense if you think about it.

Wow, great episode. Kelly v Ruby showdown was BRUTAL. Really fun watching Pablo discover his new abilities. Tonnes of great dialogue, and Bruce was on his game in every sense. I actually laughed out loud several times.

This director clearly knows how to get great performances out of the cast. Please keep them around if we somehow get another season.

Speaking of which, I can't help but appreciate the quality that's coming from this series now, and I cannot be the only one. If Starz let's it go, I wouldn't be surprised to see Netflix or Amazon attempt to get a deal going.

About the KoS, remember they haven’t actually seen a deadite in centuries, let alone fought one. I wish they would have been a little tougher, but I can’t imagine they have been properly trained by anyone than Ash, again centuries ago. Then there’s the funding, they can’t be professional soldiers, they have to have day jobs. I would be happy if Dalton was still alive however

They're really trying to be inventive with the creature designs and effects, and they've been pretty successful in realizing them. Ruby pulling herself together was pretty cool and Kelly's death was actually handled very well.

Although we already know her death isn't going to last and its impact won't be felt for very long.

That's all I got for positives this week. All in all, this episode didn't do much for me. Probably just the weight of all the still very present problems I have with the show. The bad, cliche dialogue and performances certainly didn't help. And yay, more wasted interesting characters and ideas. To be honest, at this point I'm just bored and waiting for it to end, hoping the last couple of episodes will at least end the season/show on a high note.

I've been a pretty big fan of the season. The show has it's faults. I think longer episode would allow for more story and more time to develop creepier environments but as it stands now I feel the pacing and fun continue to be there for me.

DyD's reminded me of how innovative the creature design work actually HAS been this season. There have been a couple of clones of other properties, but hey, this week's creature was interesting and very properly gruesome.

I've had mixed opinions about the season as a whole, but this to me has at least been a step up from the mixed aimlessness of season 2 and the atrociousness of most of season 1.

Personally, I think all three seasons have been pretty much the same in terms of quality. I'll admit they've made some superficial and timid improvements in season 3, but they haven't done much with any of it so far and their commitment to those improvements has been fairly inconsistent for me to call it a significant step up. All the issues I had with the previous two seasons are still here and still bugging me just as much.

@DyD I think a lot of it's incredibly dependent on the episode for me. My major problems are always flanderisation, CGI, and lack of follow through/character waste.

I think the show is suffering a lot from the 30 minute run time. It worked for season one because each episode was it's own set piece, but S2 and S3 feel so empty because everything moves so fast and there's not a lot of time for rests or character development

I think it especially shows up in the rift between episode four and five. That flows much better as one single hourlong episode.
