Scream Factory Army Of Darkness Collectiors Edition Coming

When anyone gets round to watching the Director's Cut, I would be very interested to read what the quality is like on those extra scenes. I'm particularly thinking of the extra stuff in the Windmill which is very blurry on most editions in the past. (I seem to remember there was a Japanese version which looked lovely.)

Please understand, I'm not impatient. I know you guys have only just received these! But I'm sure there will be reviews, so if you'd include that I'd really appreciate it.

I'm the only one with a copy right now.

the director's cut does not degrade in quality at all
the windmill part is nice quality.

as for everyone else don't get to excited I have
already said that this set has some issues.

please show caution when you all buy this.

I just finished watching the set today, I'm quite satisfied with it. Not the end-all of AOD blu-rays but its the best so far.
The new scenes on the director's cut are very nice looking, though they haven't been cleaned up. Plenty of scratches and grit visible on those scenes alone, but they're not blurry.
However, some of those scenes are clear on the international version. Go figure.
The added scenes on the tv version are also nicer looking than individual deleted scenes, though I can't remember if they were widescreen.

I noticed something was funky with the audio during the scene were Ash was being chased horseback through the woods. Oh well, the missing bit doesn't bother me that much.

I have not notice any degrade in quality,
the directors cut of this set was sourced from
the mgm version.

the tv cut has weird playback issues
the best way I can describe it is it's a
bit slow.

the 1st disc the theatrical cut has
a shot of ash falling from the hill
while being chased by the evil
missing but the audio from it is still there.

those are the errors I found.

To ashevildead123,

Can you post at least one or two screenshots from each version to see how the quality is ?
If the Director's Cut is taken from the MGM release, I'd like to see how it looks on Blu-ray.

Man I wish I could but my computer is old and won't run
the blu ray properly. I tried vlc it didn't work I tried media Player classic then
powerdvd nothing worked.

i don't have any advanced capturing software,
maybe that orther guy who came forward with
a copy can help.

im sorry I could not help you I did try..

I can't help either, my currently computer doesn't play blu-ray and my old laptop is broken. Perhaps shots will pop up on Bluray.com within the next few weeks.

I can probably help, but it's gonna take me a little bit.

Huh, I wonder if people complained about the audio issues you picked up on.

Good thing i didn't buy the previous BD as i had the 2-disc LE from Anchor Bay and i did sold it at one of my city's local hastings and gonna get this one as i preodered it, i can't wait to see the new extras and check out the international version which i heard alot about.

Have they even said was that're causing them to do a disc replacement program?   Is it specifically the missing scene on the theatrical or is it the playback issues with the TV cut?

That's interesting information. The defect seemed minor to me but I guess a defect is a defect. I wonder if they'll just replace Disc 1, the frame rate with the TV cut was a little wonky but that might just be the way the transfer was. Slowing it down or speeding it up wouldn't help if frames are missing.

There was an audio problem with the Halloween 4 blu-ray in their Halloween box-set, but that was covered by Anchor Bay. They just replaced that one disc (and the disc doesn't even match the one in the box-set).

I wonder if the discs shipping on Tuesday will have this defect?

That's a good question Kain. They might not have the new discs yet but they know the ones they have now don't work. Looks like Scream Factory is in a pickle.

i think most people sent them a message about the missing scene.

Huh! I might bring back my (still unopened because I'm too busy to watch it) set back and try to buy it again around November/Dec.

This goes back to a point made earlier.

A trend going around all the forums is that the reason there called "Shout Factory" is because that's what you wanna do when you see how bad their releases are.
