RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

Starz is saying the panel is going uploaded on the official site at some point!

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

Here's collider's review for the first episode  (some spoilers in there review so be warned)

http://collider.com/ash-vs-evil-dead-review-bruce-campbell-starz/

i knew that screen test couldn't have been from the final script cause it mentions this in the review "DeLorenzo brings a brilliant blend of vulnerability and confidence to the character, serving as a very relatable anchor while also giving the impression that she’ll eventually rise to the occasion and kick some deadite ass herself. The three of them will undoubtedly make an exceptional team." maybe they changed her character up in the final script ?

While we wait on the panel to be uploaded, here's a interview conducted by marvel

(love the chemistry going on with the cast members espesically with ray, dana and bruce)

Is it just me or does Bruce seem pissed up in this clip ? ... I haven't got any problem with that either way although he does seem to be a bit out of it.

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

I was hesitate on posting this news but take it for what you will.

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

@Swofty - Bruce is always like that at events/when he's on, it more looks like the rest of the cast is angry and frustrated with him/embarrassed by him.

@Joe
Either they completely rewrote the role or this reviewer is blind to the show's faults, which is a strong possibility. The uber extravagant praise coming out that guy's pen kind of makes me side-eye him.

I'm also fairly sure it'll get a second season.  TBH it'd have to pull below a 1.0 to not be considered for one, no way that's happening.  Whether it falls off that far remains to be seen (My continued prediction is still 5 mil for the debut that'll settle around a 2 mil).  They're being blinded by those fifteen million views combined on the trailer (I think altogether it's up to 18 when you count in the yt trailer?).  Take a look at what everything's gotten since, on the BTS reels and the secondary trailer - 200 k, maybe less.  Intense initial curiosity doesn't always balance out to huge ratings.

to me it seems like they rewrote her character then what was shown in the screen test, if he were completely blind to the faults which in my eyes during the screen test there were some major faults in that dialogue he would have mentioned it. But instead he gave nothing but praise for the new cast and if i remember correctly ign said the same thing too now that's 2 reviewer's saying the same thing about the supporting cast.

"[font=ars-maquette-web, sans-serif]And the widening of the Evil Dead universe into more of a modern town setting (don’t forget, it’s only been cabins and medieval times before) works really well, with a fun, likable group of new characters in Ash’s vicinity." - IGN" [/font]

HOLY SHIT, ash vs evil dead is trending right now.

I like your skepticism. I'm curious to see how much social media marketing will translate to actual views. Number of Facebook and Youtube followers/view usually aren't a good indicator or guarantee how well something will do in the real world.

As slow as they are it will take a couple of weeks.

Youtube views don't necessarily translate to tv viewers, but this is Evil Dead related... and there are a ton of fans out there so there is that, but it will be interesting to see how many people will end up going out of their way to pick up Starz to see it. I can see it all now "Forget buying food for the family this month honey Ash vs Evil Dead is coming on."

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

@Joe: Really?!  For how long?  It's not trending in the US or Worldwide as of now; how high did it get?  Got to the mid 6's during the trailer release from what I remember.

I'll hope that they rewrote the dialogue at this point, because Amanda and Pablo are the only people I'm coming close to liking.

We'll have to see how much we get footagewise when they release the first ten minutes in two weeks.

@Kain - In situations like this you have to compare it to something like American Horror Story or Scream Queens.  Both have huge social capital with young people and trend high on Social media when they air, but AHS couldn't get over the 3.0 mark Wednesday for the debut of Hotel, and SQ is dying in the ratings because their young-skewing audience keeps DVRing and/or illegally torrenting it.  I absolutely predict it's going to do well, but the reality of it being on paid cable is going to hamper it.  the reality of the situation is going to be that people are going to happily bootleg, pay for it on ITunes it or marathon it at the end of the season/when it hits Netflix.   You can look at the number of Twitter Follows and Facebook likes for comparison; I think each are somewhere around 500k.  Those are the commited fans who'll show up.

@Nick - they keep being weeks and weeks behind everyone else when it comes to trailers, it's really ridiculous /insert my typical rant about how they'e handling the social media for this show.   I see the occasional handful of people bragging to Bruce that they bought Starz because of AvEd, but not a huge amount.

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

Game of Thrones is another show that people talk about constantly, but pirate the shit out of when episodes air... and the sad part is that HBO and other channels are just not worth paying a wad of cash for when they have a couple of good shows on at the most. Starz from what I have seen has nothing else I'd watch so I will probably just pay to stream online.

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

It shouldn't take long. They uploaded the San Diego Comic Con panel like... 24 hours after?

To use Starz' streaming service you apparently have to prove you've ordered their service through your cable, at least that's how it works on Roku.

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

"Look, we got a second season the minute there were 15 million views on Facebook for the trailer,” continued the fan-favorite actor. “That was our second season right there, I can tell you right now. They were like, ‘Got it! We know this show now!’ They were finally convinced of its following.”

Heh. I like Bruce's optimism, but it feels a bit like jumping the boomstick to me.

Don't get me wrong. He is probably right, but I'm not so sure for THAT reason.

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

since starz is going to be slow about uploading the panel, heres a generous upload from a fan :D

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

Bruce is at the high end of the boost he's getting from the general universal positivity coming out of the response for this.   This always seems to happen with him with big new projects; he was like this with the remake, making outlandish predictions and saying outlandish things.  Reality will set in with the first negative review or if it doesn't perform to the moon, which is what happened when MNIB didn't make back its cost and got a bad review in the NY Post and he was like this when the remake got an average cinemascore and was only a mild hit.  Then he either puts it in a healthy perspective or starts lashing out in public.

He doesn't seem to get that those views could be from multiple IPs coming from the same person or pc going back to watch it, or screencap it.  I know I watched it three times on three different days so I could go back and catch details I missed and get caps, and I have a non-static IP so each view counted as a new hit.

Like I said, a second season is very likely to happen but they're missing a lot of signs and factors that this might not be TWD 2.0.

Thank you Joe.  Annnd we get a full spoiler as to how and why the Evil is unleashed via EW:

[font=proxima-nova, sans-serif]In fact, the premiere finds the Deadite-battling stock-boy enjoying sexual relations with a new lady friend who turns into a ghoul because — as we discover in flashback — a stoned Ash has previously read aloud from the Necronomicon to impress a previous female acquaintance. It is perhaps worth pointing out that all of this (and more!) occurs before the show’s opening title credit.[/font]

Sooo it's even worse than we thought.  I refuse to believe that that's something Ash would do, and the woman-turns-into-Deadite-mid fuck thing is going to be squicky (wouldn't it be the same woman?).

Also Starz or whoever paid for these fanboy reviews should've sloshed less money around.  This Geeks of Doom review basically covers everything that happens in the pilot and is filled with spoilers, but it's also barely professional; when you literally have a journalist going "who cares about this plot point?!GOOORE" you're not doing your job, you're fanboying.

My guess that they're going to pack too much shit into the pilot looks right on the money.

You know it might be OOC, but he is Drunk/High in this situation and his thought process is all f**ked up from the booze/weed, he in his state of euphoria, people do stupid shit when there drunk/high off drugs and he must have been hitting it real hard that night ,when he read the passages to this chick. Now if it sounds like i am making excuses for the writing on how they bring back the dead, i'm not because it makes sense for moving the story forward, we wouldn't have a show if ash didn't f**k up just once. Ash let his guard down for his own selfish needs and now it's gotten him into a shitstorm of mess he has to clean up. They've mentioned he wants to skip town and run away from the problem he caused, but pablo talks him down and gets him to finally face the thing his been running from for years, this whole series is about ash becoming the hero we saw him as in AOD and ED2, and the characters around him becoming hero's themselves. *end rant*

I think we just need to see the show in action so we can get a feel of how the pacing is gonna be. It sounds like it was paced well due to all of the positive reception from the audience, there was a post from someone on tumblr saying it was fun to watch.

Heres the post

"[font=Arial, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif]I’m still processing what went on today but basically it was awesome and I had a great time.[/font]

[font=Arial, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif]ANYWAY, I showed up early to the Hammerstein Ballroom. We stayed for the Ash Vs. Evil Dead panel and even though I’m not a huge Evil Dead fan I had a fun time. They screened the ENTIRE first episode which airs this halloween on Starz!! [/font]

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

A special Ash vs Evil Dead tv spot just popped up during the season 6 premier of The Walking Dead. I think I'm dead, and need someone to come check and see. It was really awesome... and unexpected.

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

Well if you want publicity there ya go ;D

I didn't get to see the tv spot, was there anything new in it ?

RE: Evil Dead Television Series [Spoilers Thread]

I think that's what frustrates me; there would be so many ways to unleash the Evil without indulging in Sam's "let's make Ash the worst person alive because I find reversing his character development" fetish (even though it makes him hard to root for).  Kelly's mother could have easily unleashed it and Ash could have been racing to stop her; Pablo could have done it and been forced to learn from Ash's wisdom that way.   It's like they're trying their damndest to make him as unlikable as they think he is.

ETA: Yeah, Nick, what was in the spot?
